Kenneth Goodman, 96, of Halltown passed away on Saturday afternoon in Mount Vernon Place Health Care Center, Mount Vernon, Mo., following a short illness. Kenneth was born in Halltown and grew up in the Halltown area. He lived in California for a few years and moved back to Halltown and was a lifelong area resident. He owned and operated Goodman Garage and Service Station in Halltown and Interstate 44 for 45 years. He was a member of the Halltown Baptist Church. Kenneth and Cleo West were united in marriage on Jan. 14, 1939. To this union two sons were born. Together they were privileged to share over 58 years. Cleo preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 1997 Also preceding him was a grandson, Darin Goodman on Sept 26, 1994; two brothers, Elgin and Walter Goodman; and two sisters, Jewell Dickens and Gladys Scott. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Denny and Judi Goodman of Halltown, and Joe and Debra Goodman of Springfield; three grandchildren, Daryl Goodman, denise Perry and Tara Goodman; two step-grand-sons, Robert and Jeff Gilbert; and four great-grandchildren Derrick and Danielle Goodman and Kristen and Kaitlyn Perry. Services will be at 2 p.m. tuesday, July 3, 2001, in Halltown Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Conway officiating. Interment will follow in Yeakley Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Wilson Brim-Daniel Funeral Home, Ash Grove. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today in the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.
