Kaye, I'm not especially looking for Mason...maybe you're answering another Pat, but there must be two families of Mason around Halltown (probably cousins). The Mason I knew in the mid forties is Mamie Mason Bullard. Mamie lived just south of us and used to help my Mom with her three little kids (one was me). Her husband died right after WWI with the flu. She never married and raised her two girls, Dorothy and Helen by herself. Dorothy married Loren Sifferman and they lived outside Halltown for most of their married life; had one daughter who also had one daughter. Others are looking for Mason's that had four or five girls. Your relative that owned the Halltown cafe was probably the wife of one of Mamie's brothers. Just guessing there; somebody who knows correct me here. My Mom is busy thinking about this, but if I remember correctly. Memory jolt....I recall sitting on a swivel stool in the Halltown cafe with my father. I was no more than ten years old, maybe 11 and Chloe was there. She looked funny to me because her skin was a different color than mine; it had a bluish tinge and I ask Daddy about it. He told me she had some sort of disease that made her skin blue. The restaurant was near the beauty shop and barber shop near the phone company office on the south side of the hwy. That is my total recollection of Chloe. The next summer when we visited Halltown the restaurant was closed, so I don't know what happened to her. Do you? Remind me of who your mom is.
