Wilma, The information in the LCHS published record (p. 16) is: Christophor, Stephen W., to Sarah Youcam, 7 Sept. 1856, by Benjamin F. Reese, M. G., Book ABC, p. 149. which provides the name of the minister and the page in the book. As you probably know, Book ABC (1845-1870) is a transcribed copy made by the Clerk in 1902, by order of the Court, of the original Books A (1845-55), B (1856-60), and C (1860-70). Fred used the original Book A for his transcription and Book ABC for the transcriptions of Books B and C. Audrey L. Woodruff also used Book ABC for her transcriptions published in Missouri Miscellaney. The only difference is that in her transcription she spells the groom's last name "Christopher" instead of "Christophor" as in Fred's. The early marriages published in Goodspeed's 1888 History is only of Book A, which ends in 1855 before this marriage occurred. That is another source for a transcription of Book A, although there are some serious problems with Goodspeed's listing, for example, all the marriage listed as 1856 in Goodspeed were actually 1846. Ross >>> wfields55@hotmail.com 2/9/2007 1:12 AM >>> Elaine, Yes, I have the census records and William and Margaret Christopher are Stephen's parents. They can be found on the 1850 Greene Co MO Census, Campbell Twp. Sarah is with her family in Taney Co. MO at that time. The links to the marriage records on the Lawrence Co Genweb do not work, so I was unable to look at marriages in Lawrence Co. Seems I had e-mailed the coordinator about this before. I need to find another link, I think it was through rootsweb, but have'nt found that one yet . Thanks for verifying that the marriage was Sarah Yoachum---just wanted to be sure. I will be picking up the actual record before too long, I hope, on my next trip up to MO. You probably already know it's in the LC Marriage Record Book ABC. There, Sarah's last name is spelled Youcam. On the 1860 Lawrence County Census, Pond Creek, Greene, MO S.W. Christopher is in a household that has him and his wife and also some of her family. The head is his wife's brother. Household has: Harvey Yocum 20 b in MO Margaret Yocum 20 b in TN James F. Yocum 10 months b in MO S.W. Christopher 21 b in TN in abt 1839 Sarah Christopher 22 b in MO Stephen W. Christopher 3 b in MO Caledonia C. Christopher 1 b in MO It could be Stephen W. Christopher's parents living two households down. Shows Wm Christopher age 61 and Margaret age 54. I cannot figure out the census taker's abbreviation for their states of birth.
