    3. Dear Jack, The 1974 History only lists his name and dates of service. There is no biography nor photo of him in that volume. As I mentioned below, there might be an obituary for him in the local newspapers. Perhaps someone in the Mount Vernon area can check the newspapers for an obituary. Searching for some mention of him in the newspapers during his election and service in office would probably require several hours reading the newspapers on microfilm. You would probably have to do that yourself by ordering the microfilm on Interlibrary Loan through your local library from the State Historical Society in Columbia, Missouri. Information on doing this is on their website: http://www.umsystem.edu/shs/newspaper.shtml Or you could go to Mount Vernon and read the microfilm at the library there. Or someone might take you up on your offer to pay for the research. It is highly unlikely that there would be a photo in the newspapers. There were very, very few obituaries with photos at that time and probably no photos in the newspapers at the time he was in office. Hi Jack, The Anthony/Anthoney family is buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Peirce/Pierce City. According to Thomas's tombstone, he was born in Maynooth, County Kildare, Ireland. Lawrence County, Missouri, Tombstone Inscriptions, Vol. 9, Pierce City, Western Pierce Township, St. Patrick's Cemetery, p. 82: Anthoney, Michael, 18 Feb 1844 - 30 Nov 1916, same stone with Mary M. William, 31 Mar 1882 - 21 Sep 1883, son of M. & M. [Note: There is either an error on the years of birth (tombstone or transcription) for Thomas and William or they were twins born 13 days apart.] Thomas, 1819 - 7 Sep 1887, age 69 years, born Maynooth, County Kildare, Ireland [Note: There is no tombstone inscription listed for his wife.] Anthony, Jessie C., 11 Mar 1870 - 4 July 1929, same stone with John J. John J., 2 June 1859 - 21 May 1931, same stone with Jessie C. Mother, 1871 - 1913 Father, 1871 - 1937 You should check with St. Mary's Catholic Church, 200 Front Street, Pierce City, MO 65723-1263, phone 417-476-2827, to see if someone there knows what happened to St. Patrick Church's records. I did not find a published abstract of an obituary nor a probate record for Thomas Anthony. However, the Peirce City Empire newspaper for 1887 is available on microfilm from the State Historical Society of Missouri in Columbia. It is also available at the McCanse Library in Mount Vernon. 1890 Special Census of Veterans, Missouri, Lawrence Co., Peirce Township, Peirce City, [p. 3], line 5: Anthony, Michael, 105 Pa Inf. According to Goodspeed's 1888 History, Lawrence Co. section, p. 56: Elections, 1886. -- . . ., Administrator, Michael Anthony, 2,043. . . . [Note: Apparently he ran unopposed for Public Adminstrator.] The 1974 Lawrence County History shows him serving as Public Administrator, 1884-1886. However, the list in the 1974 History gives dates which are consistently two years earlier than the Election results for Administrator in Goodspeed. The only other mention of the Anthony family in Goodspeed's is on p. 99 where Teresa Anthoney is listed as one of many women on the bell committee for St. Patrick's church. The bell was received in the spring of 1888. Ross Cameron >>> jackare@netscape.com 03/29/05 01:27PM >>> Hi listers I amseeking infornationon the subject family. Thomas and Mary are my maternal great grandparents. Thomas and Mary Anthony moved , with their family, from Armstrong county,Pennsylvania shortly before the 1880 census. The family included their son Michael 's family and a number of children. They settled in Lawrence county. Thomas died sometimebetween 1880 and the 1900census. Mary died sometime before the 1910 census. Thomas and Mary emigrated from Ireland. I am attempting to trace them back to Ireland. I have recently discovered Thomas' naturalization records and will share them with his descendants.
