2. Found the following in Court Records of Fincastle, Va. I wish to thank the DAR and SAR for honoring this fine Revolutionary Soldier. He was an ancestral "Uncle" of mine. Lee Hash Culpeper, Va. During the Revolutionary period we find among those listed in the account records as serving in Captain David Looney's Company in Fincastle County Virginia were: Thomas Hash, Ephriam Osborne and Stephen Osborne, each serving 35 days and paid 2 Pounds 12 Shillings and 6 Pence. It should be noted that at various times during the evolution of the State of Virginia, the territory now embraced by Grayson County was included in Fincastle, Botetourt, Montgomery and Wythe Counties respectively. On April 4, 1776, Enoch Osborne was promoted to Captain and Thomas Hash was appointed Ensign of their unit. William and John Hash Jr., Benjamin Phipps and Francis Sturgill were Privates in Captain Osborne's Company. On September 29, 1777, John and William Hash, along with several other members of Captain Osborne's Company, swore allegiance to the Commonwealth of Virginia vice George III, King of Great Britain, but according to Virginia military records, they renounced their allegiance to King George III to be faithful to the Commonwealth of Virginia on December 5, 1777.

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone.
