    1. Re: [MOLAWREN] Volunteering, Museum, Lawrence Co Summit Cemetery, Vermillion and Burton

    3. Jan: Last year I discovered that my gr-gr-grandmother, Temple Stevenson, name actually--Louisa Temple Stephenson died in Lawrence County on 14 March, 1910 and buried in the Summit Cemetery, on 15 March, 1910. I was at the library there and was given various phone numbers to contact people. It seems the earlier burial records were destroyed and someone finally told me that a road had been built through the cemetery at some point in time, and some graves ended up being south, across the east-west road and some graves are thought to have been buried underneath the road. The Missouri Death Certficate shows her as being buried there, so I console myself with the thought that I will never find her grave, but that the cemetery is well cared for, unlike so many old country cemeteries. Dennis, You mean to tell me that there was a road or highway put down on top of a grave or some graves? That is the most disgraceful thing I have ever heard what type of person would allow such a thing to happen? It must have something to do with money, which is the lowest act I could think of to do to the remains of a person, I was told when young it was disgraceful to even walk on a grave, this is very bad. Ugh. That was very, very wrong. Who ever let that happen should be very ashamed of them selves. I could go on but what good would that do, shame shame on them.
