My grandparents were JN "Nate" and Verna Austin-my husband & I may take a quick trip back to MO this summer and I'd like to see their farm. I haven't been there in 40 years and was wondering if anyone is familiar with it and if someone could could me an address (the only one we had was RR #2, Mt. Vernon, MO) and good directions. There were some big tanks-oil or gas-that went in across the road and up a bit and it seems like the Brick Church was up the road across the highway past my great aunt's house-she was Jewel Waterson. Those roads are not marked great down there. Those big gas tanks are still there. Just newer. The Jewel Waterson house is next door to my Aunt Judy Hood's house. As a child I would walk with my cousins to visit the ladies that lived in that house when I would visit down there. One of them was my mom's Sunday school teacher when she was a girl. I think her name was Mary. I sent this to my parents to see if they could give you good directions. I might also forward it to Aunt Judy with your email address.
