    3. Hi Sharon, If you are looking for Bennie's siblings and their descendants, were you able to get his obituary? It might be in the Benton County Record for 1973, and you can probably get the newspaper on microfilm via Interlibrary Loan at your local library. I haven't followed up my Stevensons to know whether he might be related to mine. I'm still trying to find out what happened to my William Stevenson who moved to Kansas. He was still alive for the 1860 census, but isn't on 1870. I wonder whether he got killed by bushwhackers and jayhawkers during the War, or maybe he just died of old age, since he was 68 years old in 1860. I didn't find a cemetery record for him. - Heather http://surgerysupport.uchicago.edu/hblair/ On Tue, 1 May 2007, sharon wilhite day wrote: > Hi Group, > > Since there are inquiries about > Stevenson/Stephenson, thought I would add mine. > > My Grandmother Mintora Abigail Lee (Wilhite) > married a Bennie Stephenson after her first > husband James Andrew Wilhite passed away 1934 in > Garfield, Ar. > >> From what my father told me his mother and Bennie > after marrying lived in Cherryvale, Kansas for a > while and then in Billings, Missouri. 3. Heather, many people left in 1860/1861 do to the upset and the Civil War starting, and there were many that moved to Texas, In 1861 my Gr GR grandfather Clem Davis was killed by citizens (also called Bushwhackers) he was buried almost the spot where he was killed Old Wire Road, it was said he was killed by the Reb's in a fight, but he was turned over to the Bushwhackers and killed. Later after the war ended Samuel Davis Clems son moved his father's remains' to another grave, And I also have been unable to find that grave. Good luck to us both on our hunt. I know this for a lot of the towns folk in Galina Stone County were related and Sam was after all that killed his father, and all scattered. Part of the report is on Robin Biddle's web Old Settlers it is called The Murder of Clemuel Davis. Report with dates and facts. Samuel Also moved to Kansas, they would have killed him too if he stayed In Missouri, around Lawrence, Taney, Stone County's.
