Robina, Yes, there is a ton of Vermillion's in Dade, Lawrence, Barry and LaClede Counties, MO. All of them are connected, and alot of them descend from Reuben and Rebecca Vermillion, my 2 great grandparents, and their 13 children. My great grandfather, Zachariah Vermillion, was first married to Mary J. Halabaugh in Barry Co. on 9/13/1855 and had 2 children Joseph Marion Vermillion (died in Marionville in 1936) and Thomas J. Vermillion (died in Jan 1895 and is the one buried at Zion). I did not find a record of what ended that marriage, but I assume Mary J. died. Zachariah then married (before May 1862) Mary Catharine Burton Parker, who had 4 Parker children, Goodmon Brown Parker, William J. Parker, Sarah Elizabeth Parker and Samuel M. Parker. I would love to find more information about where they are buried. Zachariah and Mary Catharine subsequently had 8 children, Rebecky (died in 1871 and is buried at Summit--her grandma, Elizabeth Burton, and her name are on the same stone), Clarinda M. (married James Hunnell and moved to CA. She died in 1940 in Santa Clara), John C. Vermillion (died in 1884 and is buried at Summit), James M. (died in 1916 in OK), Zachariah (Jr who married in Jasper Co and is buried in St Clair Co--died in 1924), Robert Henry (my grandfather who died in 1930 near Altamont, Labette Co, KS is buried at North Edna Cemetery, Edna, KS), Nancy June (died in Washington Co, OK in 1913), and Rosa May died in 1950 in ID. Rosa May married Fred Rodgers in 1895 in Lawrence County and moved to Boise ID. The last trace I have of my great grandfather, Zachariah, was when he signed for Rosa to marry on Aug 23, 1895. The last trace I have of my great grandmother was on the 1880 census except for referral to her as the mother John C. when he died in 1884. Samuel and Elizabeth Dale Burton had 4 children: E. D. Burton, Lemuel J. Burton, Mary Catharine Burton, Sarah A. Burton. There was another child, Edward Smith, in their household who was older than the others so not sure of his connection. Samuel Marion Burton, my 2 great grandfather signed a deed to his property in 1901, and that was the last trace of him. Elizabeth died in 1881 and is buried at Summit.
