My mother and dad do tons of research. They travel all over the country doing research. I am glad mom got back to your sister. She has a large collection of Hood info. And said she is trying to organize all of it. The research has taken over a whole room in their house. My parents are actually in Mt. Vernon for 2 days attending a Hood farm meeting. And will return to Kansas City and then go back down to Southern Missouri in a few weeks for decoration over Memorial Day. Uncle Paul Ray and Aunt Betty Hood Ray also would travel with mom and dad on some of their genealogy trips. My parents are very busy now that they are retired they travel and do a lot of volunteer work. I know, I can't keep up with them. So sorry if it took her some time to reply. Just out of curiousity are your Ray's the Ray's that had the house at Wilson Creek Battlefield? I know Uncle Paul's daughter (RoseAnn Ray Blunt) does a lot of fund raising for Wilson Creek Battlefield, but she said their Ray's do not connect into that Ray family. My family is related to the Wilson's the Creek is named after in Stone/Barry County, Mo. They have a booklet on the Ray family that lived there in their gift shop. I bought a copy and it was a interesting look into what that family went thru during that battle. If you have not visited the battlefield it is well worth the time. They have the Ray house open to walk thru. But a bit of advice. We tried to walk all the trails. We should have driven place to place in the brochure. Almost killed us. But I had to walk on the old wire road trail to say I had. Wilson Creek also has a webpage. My sister e-mailed you, and you provided your parents' e-mail address, to which Jan has had a reply. Thank you! My husband also has connections by marriage to the Ray family. His Uncle, Harold Dummit ( brother of his mom), married Juanita Ray, the daughter of Clarence Evert & Opal Wilson Ray, and Granddaughter of Ellsworth & Margaret Coones Ray. Aunt Juanita passed away in August last year, and is buried at Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora, as are her parents. I also have another Ray family, that were in Stone Co. that married into my husband's Philibert family. Their granddaughter was Dolly Gladys Taylor who married Lloyd C. Dummit. Their son, Harold Dummit is the same that married Juanita Ray. No connection between the two Ray families, so far! Robina I would love to contact your mother about the Hood family if possible. My uncle was Lloyd Hood who married Hildred Bowerman. I have a fair amount of information on his family but would love to confirm some of it and find other information. Thanks Donna
