    2. I think that I will jump in here! I am in Ohio and have a lost g.grandmother, Eleanor Jane McDorman/Dorman Downey McIntosh, somewhere in MO or KS. Last time she was seem in the 1880 census of Lawrence, MO, living with son, Harwell Downey and next door to daughter and son-in-law, Samuel and Rebecca Downey Morgan, so I am on this list. The lists have been great for me as I am always hoping to find others researching that family in MO and specifically MOLawren and Kansas. It has been about 7 years since I started researching and just this week, someone contacted me asking about a Badgley - didn't have her! And then discovered that she was the second wife that I had been looking for all this time and there she was in my own Greene Co. OH, only she had married for a third time. We now have her maiden name, all three married names and only lack the grave site but that will be coming soon. It took 4-5 of us on our Rootsweb site plus an e:mail to the Archives of Greene Co. and five years of trying. That is what the free and sharing Rootsweb is all about. I admit that I am very frustrated by the search feature which throws me over to Ancestry, as if I had a membership and could search there. I also have a problem with the new board system which I still don't understand. I rarely use the boards. It is too time consuming to search them. I use my Google search and AOL search which many times throws me into Rootsweb. So, you all do your searching and have a good time doing it. Remember when all is found and you are done with gening, you will miss the wonderful dialogue with each other. I love my life in the world of genealogy and also love the wonderful souls who do it. 3. Great comeback Linda, there is hope for me yet, I have lost family burial places too, I have been searching Stone, McDonald, Green, and old lines new lines (County) with no luck yet. I started hunting way back before Rootsweb, I was living in California and purchased the Ozark Quartiles put out by Elizabeth B Langley, the cost was not high and was my only line to Missouri Information. The 1970's. I will enter my names again here, Davis-Manning-Lee- Clemuel P Davis & Martha Priestley Davis died between 1861-1879 Stone Co William P Manning, son George, son William, 1st wife Lutitia McNabb Manning, son by 2nd wife Asa b&d 1860 Stone Co. Green co, McDonald, and Lawrence. Lewis Runo Lee b 1805 KY d Pineville McDonald Co Mo 1881-1882 So I keep looking, maybe someday. 3. Linda, Yeah for you. Because of the free Rootsweb and the lists, I also found or was found by, descendents of my ggrandfather. I actually didn't think there were any other descendants, but they proved me wrong. I appreciate what is online and although it would be nice that everything I want was out there, I have found an amazing amount online. Oh, yes, I also found cousins that I would never have found. It is sad that Ancestry.com is no longer going to offer their services to the LDS local history libraries. Another thumbs down for Ancestry/paid genealogy services. The LDS sites information is free and if you look, might find a lot of Lawrence County, MO info there (I haven't tried). It's just hard to navigate on dial-up.
