ARCH had a brother MOSES GILBERT who was also a resident of Lawrence Co, I do not know where ARCH is buried. There is an 1870 Census of Lawrence Co Mo on line. Where as the actual census is correct and lists ARCH as ASH (Tennessee accent pronunciation of ARCH and census takers lack of interest as to what party is actually saying) The people that copied the names and information from the original 1870 Census and put it on line, list ARCH GILBERT'S family as the GILBERT ASH family living with MOSES GILBERT. Whereas I am very greatful for the people with enough gumption to get these records on line. I cannot help but be distressed that MY family is on there incorrectly. How disappointing for our family researchers not to find ASH (ARCH) GILBERT in that census. I found him years ago while searching the actual census on micro film. It was a very exciting find(and I have difficulty in understanding the mentality that would reverse GILBERT to a first name and ASH as a last name by the way it is written on the Census.) The MOSES GILBERT family was in the same house and they are listed as GILBERTS. I have requested a correction on the ON LINE CENSUS, but last time I looked it was still discombooberated, thus no help to any GILBERT researchers that don't have the info from the real census.
