Dear List, According to her mini-biography in "Who's Who in Los Angeles County", 1928/29, Helene Doris Kuehne was born in Marionville, MO on 29 Dec 1890. Her parents were H.F.W. Kuehne and Amelia (Lillemann) Kuehne, who were married the previous April in St. Louis. This family must have live in Marionville for only a year or so, before moving on to Winfield, KS. What I wonder is whether Lawrence County has any birth records that old, or whether Marionville had a town directory which might confirm that the family had been there. Dr. Kuehne had been a pastor of the 5th Christian Church in St. Louis, and ran a business and academic college in Winfield. Helene grew up to be a well known (and quite glamorous) aviation pioneer and business woman in Los Angeles, and Marionville could well be proud to claim her.
