Vickie, In 1819, Lawrence CO, AR covered most of the northern part of AR and also a small distance into present-day MO, for virtually the width of the state as we know it. This area included what is now the southern half of Barry CO, MO. Lawrence CO, MO was formed in 1845 from parts of northern Barry and western Greene CO, MO (the Barry CO part had not been a component of Lawrence CO, AR). By 1850, Lawrence CO, AR was a much smaller county, located in the northeast corner of the state. If you believe that your Lawrence CO, AR ancestors were in present-day Missouri, you may be right -- but there are eight present-day MO counties that they might have been in. Here's a clue: In 1836, Izard CO, AR was roughly placed where present-day Marion, Fulton and Izard Counties (AR) are. By 1850, Izard CO, AR was south of Fulton CO, AR. Good luck!
