Hi! An article in today's Neosho Daily News states that the county, in needing space, gave to the genealogical society at the library the marriage licenses of people married in Newton County, Mo--years . 1930-1986. These licenses were destined to go to the landfill. Now the genealogy dept. needs space, so, if you have a close relative who was married in Newton County during this period and want the marriage license, the society is willing to search their records and mail you the license if found. Many of these licenses were filled out when Camp Crowder was in full swing during the '40's when contingents of soldiers were stationed there. Searches may be requested in person or by mail. Mail request to Genealogical Friends of the Library at PO Box 314, Neosho, Missouri 64850. Include $1.50 which will cover the search and mailing per each license. Also include the following information: name of bride, name of groom, date of marriage, -----also name, address, telephone number and relationship of person requesting the search. If the search is unsuccessful, you will be notified but no refund on money. Good luck! Hope this helps someone. Ceil
