    2. FYI The book "Down The Wire Road" by Fern Angus consists of 157 pages. I have a signed copy of the book since I contributed to it about my grandfather and grandmother, who lived along the Old Wire Road. I noticed that they had a few copies at Amazon. Haven't looked recently. Betty J. (Martin) Henry ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com.

    3. Ross, I, my mother, her father, his father and his father were born in Lawrence County and the story I heard was that the Trail of Tears went through there. But, I suspect that it was some of the Indians that went through there and not necessarily the actual trail. I'm interested in your findings. 3. Hello all, Yesterday I looked at the online National Park Service Trail of Tears map which, from after Springfield to the Arkansas line, only shows the Trail, creeks and rivers, and a few longitude and latitude lines. Based on that I concluded that the NPS Trail of Tears National Historic Trail crossed the Stone County - Barry County line a little south of the southeast corner of Lawrence County. Today I obtained a copy of the NPS Trail of Tears National Historic Trail Comprehensive Management and Use Plan -- Map Supplement from the library. I have not analyzed the text and sources yet. However, Northern Route Map No. 53 shows the Trail crossing from Stone County into Barry County a little more than 1/2 mile south of the southeastern corner of Lawrence County. The Trail is just on the north side of Crane Creek as it crosses the Stone County - Barry County line -- about in the middle of the eastern edge of Section 36, Township 26 North, Range 25 West. It continues west-southwesterly to Madry. I am not questioning the other maps and statements which indicate that the Trail of Tears went through Lawrence County because I have not analyzed those sources either. It does seem that there needs to be some more research on this. 2. Deb, This all makes sense to me. In Webster County just east of Springfield there is a "Panther Hollow". Panther Cemetery is also located there. It is located between Northview (near I-44 and Marshfield) and Rogersville (on Hwy 60). Northview would have been on the "Old Wire Road". Our daughter and son in law lives there in Panther Hollow near Panther Creek. This is land that his great grand parents owned. They will see a panther ever so often at night. They have had one that will come up on their deck. It is a little scary for me but the people in that area just takes it as every day life. 3. There is a book called "Down the Wire Road" by Fern Angus, with Ted Roller. It's very informative, and I doubt it's expensive. I think it's available from the Field's Photo Archives in Cassville, MO, or you could probably get a copy from Ted Roller. If you have an interest, let me know. jay trace jibberish66@yahoo.com --- Eleanor Prieskorn <dalell@earthlink.net> wrote: > Hello Linda, This "old Wire Road" how long is that > road? > Do you know?
