    3. Thank you so much for your reply and help, and the earliest I find my Chisum family in Lawrence county,Ark. is 1827, 1829 and 1834 up to 1850, Are you saying in your first paragraph Lawrence county, Ark. in 1819 was a small part of Barry county, MO. in 1827? Vickie I think things are starting to make sense, alot of the Chisum did travel to Barry county, Mo. James Chisum and I believe also Nathan Breed Chisum? I think this is where I may hit? But if I am wrong about it being Barry county, Mo. Please let me know, Vickie ----- Original Message ----- From: Paul E. 1. [MOLAWREN-L] Lawrence CO, AR
    2. Paul E. "PJ" Jackson, Sr.
    3. Vickie, In 1819, Lawrence CO, AR covered most of the northern part of AR and also a small distance into present-day MO, for virtually the width of the state as we know it. This area included what is now the southern half of Barry CO, MO. Lawrence CO, MO was formed in 1845 from parts of northern Barry and western Greene CO, MO (the Barry CO part had not been a component of Lawrence CO, AR). By 1850, Lawrence CO, AR was a much smaller county, located in the northeast corner of the state. If you believe that your Lawrence CO, AR ancestors were in present-day Missouri, you may be right -- but there are eight present-day MO counties that they might have been in. Here's a clue: In 1836, Izard CO, AR was roughly placed where present-day Marion, Fulton and Izard Counties (AR) are. By 1850, Izard CO, AR was south of Fulton CO, AR. Good luck! 1. [MOLAWREN-L] Bible Publisher History
    2. Oh great genies out there... Could anyone help me educate myself concerning the ROWE Family Bible I just received from a relative in PA yesterday? I would actually like to know something about the history of the Bible itself; such as, how much it might have cost, where (which states) the publishing company sold them, etc. It is actually a Civil War era Bible. All the links I am pulling up on the Net want me to buy a Bible or something. I can't seem to find a good source for Bible publishing "history," etc. Also, let me post a few of the surnames I see in it connecting to the ROWE family. My husband's Rowe line seems to have been in PA and OH. He is from Puttsburgh, PA, but I understand from extra-wonderful genies out there that the Rowe family in SW MO ties in somewhere to the OH and PA Rowes. Anyway, I just got the Bible and have not digested all of its contents. The surnames here going back to Hanover, Germany include: ROWE THEIS WHITE DOLDE Thanks to anyone who can help. 3. Hi, All! I wanted to send a message to remind all of you about the Battle of Wilson Creek Re-Enactment. It will be held on June 16-18 near the Battle of Wilson Creek National Park near Springfield. For any of you all able to make it you will thoroughly enjoy it! It can really add to your understanding of the time period. Many of our ancestors were there or close to there! There are supposed to be 10,000 Re-Enactors already enrolled! It will be a whole Civil War town. There will be many period speakers. Even some of the small details have been taken care of. The Springfield paper is going to be printing an old time newspaper with some of the original articles from the time period. My sons are both going to be dressed and portraying paper boys! I hope all of you close enough try to make it! Cyndi Rootsweb Sponsor C H U M B L E Y, C R A B T R E E, D R Y E R, G O O D M A N, H A L E Y, L Y N G A R, N A S H, S H A R P
