Pitts > > Alice E. Pitts, 82, Springfield, passed away at 4:08 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2001, in Primrose Place. Mrs. Pitts, a homemaker, was born April 21, 1919, in Dallas County, Mo., the daughter of James Riley and Edith Ann (Beckner) Tibbs. She was united in marriage to Arvin D. Pitts on December 18, 1940, in Charity, Mo. She was a member of High Street Baptist Church and enjoyed sew ing, gardening, canning food and crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvin, who passed away April 21, 2001; her parents; a son-inlaw, Wendell Melton; three brothers, Ernie, Olin, and Claud Tibbs; a grandchild; and a greatgrandchild. She is survived by four sons, James Tibbs and his wife, Dagmar, Scottsdale, Ariz., Delmar Pitts and his wife Sharon, David Pitts, and George T. Pitts and his wife Barbara, all of Springfield; three daughters, Martha Melton, Strafford, Judy Thompson and her husband Doug, Springfield, and Annette Baldwin and her husband Mark, Rogersville; 12 grandchildre! > n; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Jones and her husband Kenneth, Aurora; and a brother George Tibbs and his wife Ruby, Raymondville, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in Ayre-Goodwin-Lee Funeral Chapel at Rivermonte with the Reverend Lens Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Rivermonte Memorial Gardens.
