Listers, Here's the names I am looking for: LUTKE and MCFARLAND Henry Charles Lutke was my husband's grandfather. He came to Lebannon on an Orphan Train in 1910. He was 10 years old. He was taken in by the MCFARLAND family and was raised in the Bear Thicket Community. (Thanks to Martha, I have the picture from the Bear Thicket School that was printed in the paper recently.) He was known as Charles Lutke. He joined the Army in 1918 or 1919 in Missouri. Through the help of many people on this list I have found some information. So I am putting the names back out again. I am hoping that someone in the McFarland family can help me put together Charles' childhood. Thanks to all. Chris Lutke
Two things in recent Lebanon paper editions: First, the McGowan home at Nebo. Pioneer log house where Andrew McGown, well known Laclede County teacher, was born. He is shown in front of the house in l909. Also, the 4/22 edition, which I just received today, has a half page article on Oscar and Ethel (Berry) Sherrer of Sleeper. There is a little information about Sleeper, and Mr. Sherrer's parents and grandfather, so if this is the Sherrer family that is being researched on this list, or if you are interested in Sleeper, let me know.
Hi Martha...and LIST: I received two of the same type virus "Attachment" files..... Before I realized what they were, I tried to open one... I received this today and hope someone can help him out. I did not know where it was. Verna Sherrer ----- Original Message ----- From: John Deckard To: vsherrer@webound.com Sent: Monday, May 14, 2001 10:16 PM Subject: Cemetery Registration Hi Verna, I am trying to locate a cemetary that my great uncle told me about. He said that it was not far from Lebanon, and he thought maybe somewhere off highway 5. I am located in Sacramento, CA, so I dont really know that area. He said that he visited the cemetary once years ago, and that over half of the stone there were either Deckard of Davis, all of which are relatives? Is there any chance that you have visited this cemetery? If so could you tell me its name and location? Thanks John Deckard
