    2. Since it's 'Tis the Season' for roll call, if anyone is researching the CRANE surname, this is something I recently put together on the Jeffco CRANE's for another county's query.... Crystal City Pg. 380 - Crane, James, glassworker, r. and p.o. Crystal City Pg. 382 - Crane, Chas. M., merchant, r. Mt. Pleasant add., DeSoto Pg. 382 - Crane, Richard, teamster, r. South 2nd street, p.o. DeSoto Pg. 382 - Crane, A.W., carpenter, r. and p.o. DeSoto Pg. 383 - Crane & Beisbarth Clothing Co., 304 S. Main, DeSoto Pg. 384 - Crane, Nixon, laborer, r. and p.o. Hematite Jefferson County, Mo, Country Schools 1806-1952 by Della Lang Pg 20 - LaBargue School District #6 LaBarque School took it's name from the nearby creek, which is said to be named for an early French settler.  The school was located in far northwest Jefferson County, near Hiways F and FF.  [Description and history of School continues]....last paragraph: The last known teacher at LaBarque was Lois Mary CRANE who taught the 1938-39 term.  The school closed in 1944. Pg 83 (article begins on page 82) Liberty School Distric #61 (a.k.a. New Liberty) Liberty School was located in an area known as Pea Ridge, south of Hillsboro and west of Victoria, on Liberty School Road. [Description and history of School continues]...pg 83 [photo of Liberty School class of 1924 (Crane/Crain not shown)]... Last paragraph: A.L. Blake, C.D. Keefe and Wm. Kidd were serving on the school board during the 1936-37 school term and April CRANE was the teacher. Howard Litton's History of Jefferson County, Festus/Crystal City. pg. 32 - Listed out of alphabetical order in the index as: Crain, William; the name actually appears in the first paragraph on page 33. *J.H. Bailey Tells of Early Families Living In and Around Festus* (no date given) Among older residents of Festus, none is more interested in the present fortunes as well as the past happenings of the town than J. H. Bailey, who discussed early conditions with a member of the Press Staff one day last week....The only families Mr. Bailey can recall as still living here that were neighbors of his when he came to Festus over fifty years ago are.....Two classmates of his that are still well known and very active in the twin cities are C.C. Brickey of Festus and William CRAIN of Crystal City.  They attended the old Concord School. (Note: Unless this school went by another name, it is not listed in the above Country Schools book)
