Cad had had a row with Wm. NEPHEW in the morning, and in the afternoon the two went to where NEPHEW was at work with a threshing machine. Young SANDERS pulled a rock out of his pocket and knocked NEPHEW down, and the old man flourished a pistol, threatening to shoot. Thanks so much for posting this. I am so EXCITED to read this, Wm Nephew was my great grandfather. He was married to Mary Lucille DeGonia in 1877. Wm Nephew was born August 25, 1851 and was from France and I have had a hard time trying to find out a lot about him. His wife, Mary Lucille "Lucy" DeGonia's parent's were John Baptiste and Virginia Politte of Jefferson Co., Mo. Lucy and William moved to Washington County and I found in St. Joachim's records that William's parent's name were: Vieto Nephew and Hortense Dupien On William "Willie's" death certificate September 9, 1923, the informant was Virginia DeGonia and was living in DeSoto. I can't find all my notes (packrat) so I am not for sure if Virginia was William's mother-in-law cause Virginia died 1928. I was told by a cousin, Tommy Wilson, now deceased that John and Virginia lived at Big River Heights and that John was buried there also. Jack DeGonia took care of Grampa Nephew. There was some family friction and of course I am so excited I can't find the court documents right now. I know I found the documents at the Washington County, Mo. Courthouse. Wm and Lucy's had a son, John who was born 1891 and married Estella Pickett. They lived in DeSoto out on hwy 110, near hwy 67 around a curve. I remember going there as a young girl back in the 50's. Would love to hear from anyone with other information on the family Sharon (Hartzell) Smith Arnold, Jefferson Co., Mo.

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone.
