Just to remind everyone -- Charlotte's Pearls are now archived permanently at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ote/usa_genealogy/mo_newspaper.htm -------------------------------- Jefferson Democrat Hillsboro, Jefferson County, Missouri Part II WEDNESDAY, 30 JULY 1884 Henry SECKMANN of Rock Creek had occasion to visit Cleveland, Ohio, recently in the interest of the Joseph YERGER estate, and while there, met Chas. GRALL, formerly of this county. Henry says that Chas. is doing well, and that the Buckeye State is terribly mixed in politics. Jesse D. WAGGENER checks back from Sulphur Springs, Texas, for the Jefferson DEMOCRAT. He expresses himself as well pleased with his new home, though he evidently still feels lonesome away from his old friends in this county. Jesse is a young man who will make friends wherever he goes, and we wish him abundant success. Rev. GIVENS of Centre Point, Indiana, visited our town last Saturday. He is the father of W.R. GIVENS, the young man recently killed by the cars at De Soto. The old gentleman takes the loss of his son very hard, and is disposed to look upon his death as a case of murder, or at least the result of criminal carelessness. The young man was sober, steady and industrious, and died at his post. Izella, daughter of Joseph J. and Dora HOEKEN, died, Saturday, July 26th, aged four months and ten days, after an illness of only a few hours. She was a bright strong child, and had won a warm place in the hearts of her parents, and her sudden death was a sad blow tot hem. The funeral, conducted by Rev. EMORY, took place Sunday afternoon, the neighbors showing their sympathy by turning out en-masse.
