Hello, I have been looking for the death date of Elijah Maness for many years. This last week I stumbled across it by accident. I was actually looking at the Jefferson Democrat microfilm in the year 1892 for someone elses obituary. I never found the obituary I was originally looking for, however, my eye caught sight of another familiar name. My husband is a direct descendant of Elijah Maness. Elijah Maness, one of the oldest citizens of the County died at the residence of George Merseal, near Frumet on the 29th, of May, 1892. He was born Sept. 11th, 1811. He was married three times, and raised quite a large family. Several years ago he had a stroke of paralyses, and since then he has been almost helpless. He was for years a member of the Methodist church. His remains was interred in the Methodist Cemetery at Richwoods Mo. Source: Jefferson Democrat, Hillsboro, Missouri; June 9, 1892; page 3, column 3. By the way Elijah was actually married four times. Richwoods is in Washington County, Missouri. Just wanted to share!! Christine Merseal --------------------------------- Be a PS3 game guru.
