Thank you for listing the searchable roll call site, Joy. This is usually what most list administrators refer to when requesting that roll calls not be done on county mailing lists. As far as the earlier comment regarding generating excitement on the list...hmmm? Does that mean the list isn't exciting enough without roll calls? Wouldn't at least an equal amount of interest be generated with specific or general requests for specific names? This senseless debate could go on forever! Obviously, I think the roll call was a good idea and you don't and think it's about as close to spam as you can get. That's fine. I'm just saying that for those who don't tend to participate in the conversations when it doesn't pertain to them might have saw a surname that sparked their interest, like it did me, and gave them an opportunity to chime in, which I did! Since I wasn't aware of a Roll Call list, which I'm sure others were in the same category, and since that list is totally separate from this one, as this pertains to Jefferson County and the other is all of Missouri, how would a roll call on this list be a waste? Oh, as far as the archives, where are they located? I did some searching for them and didn't find any links from the JCHS or JC rootsweb websites. Also, typically when you do a search on an archive, more than just the subject line is searched, so any surnames in the body would be picked up as well. --Ken On 1/5/07, AlterIdem1@aol.com <AlterIdem1@aol.com> wrote: > > Thank you for listing the searchable roll call site, Joy. > > This is usually what most list administrators refer to when requesting > that > roll calls not be done on county mailing lists. > > As far as the earlier comment regarding generating excitement on the > list...hmmm? > Does that mean the list isn't exciting enough without roll > calls?
