HUNTLEY were married, by 'Squire SHEIBLE at Hillsboro. We are led to believe that Recorder HONEY is counterfeiting licenses, as we know of that two were issued, which were no good. Hence Mr. S. said he was not going to run the risk of getting a counterfeit, took his intended with him, had the license issued and, before they got cold or had a chance to sour, he and his bride were in the sanctum of the baby 'Squire, who tied them securely in a matrimonial knot. Mr. S. came home will pleased with his prize, and speaks in glowing terms of the manner in which the 'Squire dispatches business. He says there are no possible chance for a woman to change her mind during the ceremony, no matter how fickle minded she may be. Early in the evening of the wedding day, their slumbers were broken by the jingle of cow-bells, tin-pans, horns etc, mingled with the yells of a lot of vengeance seekers. All seemed to enjoy the noise for some time, when they were asked in and had the pleasure of congratulating the happy pair. Regina, August 18, 1886. Died, at her home, near Pevely, Tuesday, August 14th, of consumption, Mrs. Sophia MUELLER, nee SONGERUBSH, wife of John MUELLER, aged 44 years, 8 months and 14 days. She was highly respected by all who knew her. Deceased had been suffering from this fatal disease for more than three years. She bore her pain, tho conscious that she could not recover, with patience and fortitude, in the faith of her God and a better life hereafter. Her remains were interred at Pevely on Thursday morning last. A vast concourse of friends, from far and near, paid their mournful respects to her last resting place. The republican convention of Joachim township was held according to announcement, at 2 o'clock p.m., last Saturday, at Crystal City hall. A surprising large number of citizens were present, a majority of them farmers. Theo. MUNSON was chairman and R.M. DENHOLM secretary. The meeting was dignified and orderly, few Knights of Labor being present. Several parties ventured to have some of their favorite candidates endorsed by the convention, but all such attempts were speedily downed. The following is the list of delegates from this township: A.S. BURRELL, Louis JEUDE, Theo MUNSON, R.M. DENHOLM, H. HASS, J. HOUGHTON, John B. JONES, H. HARRISON, W. OSTERWALD, R.G. MORGAN, A. MOORE, Ed. KELLER, Wm. PLASS and James MARTIN. Mrs. Augusta ROGGE crossed the Dark River on Saturday night, August 14, sincerely regretted by all who knew her. She was buried in the cemetery of the German Lutheran church near by in the presence of several hundreds of sorrowing friends. She was taken in the prime of womanhood, in her 39th year, leaving behind ten children to mourn the loss of a mother, to say nothing of the 'Squire, who has the heart-felt sympathies of a large circle of friends in his bereavement.
