He was born March 24, 1925, in Piedmont, son of the late Thomas F. and Mary Ellen (nee Griggs) Kimes. Also preceded by his wife, Betty June (nee Hodge) Kimes; three brothers: Mesker, Hiram and Lyman Kimes and an infant sister; one grandson, Danny McCallister. He was a maintenance man for Bemis Bag Co., St. Louis and also had his own business repairing small engines. He was a veteran of U.S. Navy WWII. Survived by children: Charles (Shirl) Kimes, Sr., Bonne Terre; James (Donna) Kimes, Hillsboro; Gloria (Ollie) McCalister, Hillsboro; Cathy (Carl) Ball, O'Fallon; Patricia (Marvin) McDowell, Hillsboro; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, DeSoto.
