    3. This is the last one for the night folks! Jefferson County MO Leader 20 July 1866 #29 "Letter from Judge Hendrickson, Editor Jefferson County Leader: I see that my name is mentioned in your paper in connection with the nomination of a candidate for Representative in the next Legislature. I stand ready to make common cause with the Radicals of this State and County, and will cheerfully accept this nomination, should I appear to be the choice of the party through their Convention. Our common suffering for which we battled forms a bond between the Unionists of old Jefferson and myself which shall never be broke; and in whatever position their will shall place me--either as a private in the loyal host, or as a leader in the coming struggle--I shall continue to serve them, and our beloved country, with all my heart, mind and strength. We were together in battle; we are still alike in principle; and we will rally together at the ballot box. I voted for Mr. Lincoln in 1860; I stood with him through his entire administration; and the same moderate and just principles will continue to be my guide. Very truly yours, William Hendrickson
