Heiligtag, 68, of Barnhart died suddenly Friday ( 22 June) at his home. For many years, he and his brother, Elmer, operated Heiligtag Funeral Homes in Antonia, Imperial and Arnold until selling the business in 1982. The Heiligtag family had owned funeral homes in northern Jefferson County for 100 years. Arthur and Elmer founded the Festus Crystal City Monument Company of Festus, and he founded and developed the Shepherd Hills Cemetery at Barnhart. Surviving are his wife, Helen (nee Glatt); a daughter, Norlene (Mrs. Bob) Bauer, Barnhart; brother, Elmer A. Heiligtag, Imperial; two sisters, Lorraine Runge of Barnhart and Carrie Huckie; and two grandchildren. Arthur Heiligtag was born in Antonia March 14, 1916, son of the late Fred H. and Emelia (Buechting) Heiligtag. He was past president of the Arnold Businessmen's Association.
