Posted on: Jefferson County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Jefferson/355 Surname: Wideman, Horton, Hanly, Nichols, Sawyer ------------------------- I am in receipt of the Civil War record of John Franklin Wideman, alias Jno F. Wideman, alias Frank Wideman from the National Archives. I have been working under the assumption that he married Mary I. McKay however these records state that Mary, maiden name, MILLER applied for widows benefits when he died and neither one of them had any other marriages. Can anyone shed any light on this?
There are more than one John F Wideman's. I have the marriage license of John F Wideman of Jefferson Co m: Miss Mary I McKay 25Dec1872 in Jefferson Co, MO - - officiating Julius Emmons. In the printed marriage book, there is also a John F Wideman m: Mary T Miller 28May1864, and a John Wideman M: Julia Seal 19Nov1874. Perhaps the ages on your certificate can shed light on who you have. Sounds like the wrong John F.
