Posted on: Jefferson County Obituaries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Mo/JeffersonObits/189 Surname: Blunt, Garrett, Nicholls, Williams, Manwarring, Murphy ------------------------- [Bonne Terre Star News-Register, February 1918] William Hodge Blunt, who died at his home in the Silver Springs neighborhood, Friday, May 10, 1918, was born February 23, 1847, at St. Austelle, near St. Blazy, England. He came to America when a boy, and in 1850 settled in the neighborhood where he died. He lived there until 1865 and then moved to Jefferson County. He was united in marriage in 1870 to Cella B. Garrett. Nine children were born to this union of whom five are living, Blanche, Bertha, James, Maud and Lon. He was an earnest and consistent christian and had been a deacon in the Baptist church about 40 years. Of his immediate family who reside at a distance are Mrs. F. W. Nicholls of Fresno, Calif.; Lon E. of St. Louis; Mrs. C. C. Williams of Festus and Mrs. John Manwarring of Bonne Terre [St. Francois County]. He also leaves two brothers and one sister, James of St. Louis; Thomas of Herculaneum and Mrs. Kearns Murphy of Bonne Terre. He was well known and held in high esteem by a large circle of friends. He had been postmaster at Valle Mines for many years. R. G. Ramsey
