    1. Re: [MOJEFFER] James Martin, Mary Mandy Cook
    2. Dean- I find your James on the 1880 census in Jefferson County, but not on the 1870 census there. It seems funny that you would have them married in 1866 in Jefferson County, but they're not on the 1870 census. This could be an omission on the part of the enumerator or the transcriber (the censuses I have are transcribed). From the 1880 Federal Census in Jefferson County, Plattin Township, taken June 9, 1880, household #139: Martin, James L.; age-36, male, head of household, married, farmer, brn- TN, par brn TN/ TN Mary; age- 30, female, wife, married, keeping house, brn- MO, par brn- KY/ TN (I think this is father/ mother) Pherody; age- 13, female, daughter, at home, in school, brn-MO, par brn- TN/ MO Thomas; age- 11, male, son, works on farm, in school, brn- MO, par brn- TN/ MO Robert; age- 9, male, son, in school, brn- MO, par brn- TN/ MO James; age- 7, male, son, in school, brn- MO, par brn- TN/ MO Alice; age- 5, female, daughter, brn- Mo, par brn- TN/ MO Ida; age- 2, female, daughter, brn- MO, par brn- TN/ MO Now there is a James Martin of about the same age on the 1850 and 1860 censuses. He doesn't seem to have the same parents that you thought he should have, but let me send the records and you could figure it out. From the 1850 Federal Census in Jefferson County, District 42, taken August 10, 1850, household #84: Martin, James; age- 60, male, laborer, brn- KY Rachel; age- 40, female, brn- IL Eliza Jane; age- 17, female, brn- MO Margaret; age- 14, female, brn- MO John; age- 12, male, brn- MO Sarah; age- 10, female, brn- MO James; age- 7, male, brn- MO Daniel; age- 6, male, brn- MO Matilda; age- 3, female, brn- MO Lewis, Thomas; age- 1, male, (pauper) brn- MO From the 1860 Federal Census in Jefferson County, Central Township, Hillsboro Post Office, taken September 2, 1860, household #153: Marten, Rachel; age- 33, female, domestic work, real estate- $300, personal property- $140, brn- PA Margt.; age-24, female, brn- PA Jno.; age- 21, male, laborer, brn- MO James; age- 17, male, brn- MO Matilda; age- 10, female, brn- MO Mary; age- 8, female, brn- MO I hope I haven't given you more questions than answers.
