Dean- I find your James on the 1880 census in Jefferson County, but not on the 1870 census there. It seems funny that you would have them married in 1866 in Jefferson County, but they're not on the 1870 census. This could be an omission on the part of the enumerator or the transcriber (the censuses I have are transcribed). He doesn't seem to have the same parents that you thought he should have, but let me send the records and you could figure it out.
