    3. The St. Louis City Central Library has been doing some wonderful training sessions around St. Louis and I wanted to share their plans for the remainder of 2001 with everyone on the list. I've attended two classes and found both Kathy and Tom to be extremely knowledgeable and easy to understand. It is well worth a little extra drive. Each of the following five classes are given every other month and each subsequent class covers one year of the War. The December classes are still being developed, so please mark your calendars to call for more information as September and October approach. Classes are free, but size is very limited. Pre-registration is a must to secure your place in class and can be made by calling the City Central Library at 314/539-0381. Questions about the classes? They'll be glad to help. The St. Louis City Library also has an excellent genealogical collection, so please allow extra time to look at their Special Collections room. I found the original 1900 book on the History of Massac County IL there, with a biography and photo of my great-great grandfather there. A little closer to home, they will be the Speakers for the November 17, 2001 Jefferson County Genealogical Society Meeting on Civil War Research. The meeting is held at the High Ridge Library, 3033 High Ridge Blvd, High Ridge MO. The meeting starts at 9:30 am and the speakers usually start about 10:15-10:30 am. Free but space is again limited, so please call in your reservation to 314/892-2670 and leave a message with your name, phone number and how many people will be attending.
