He took a few swallows of the water and suddenly placed his hands to his stomach, crying out in pain. He at once went to the house and sent for Dr. Cornell. When the doctor came Rogers said to him "You have relieved me before, but I will die now." The severe pain continued until death released him. It was supposed to be a form of acute colic, to which he had been subject for years. Mr. Rogers was a man past middle age and leaves family. His remains were conveyed through Hillsboro, Monday, on the way to the family burying ground at the old Rogers place [south of Antonia] on the headwaters of Glaize Creek. [Note: William was born 28 May 1844 in Jefferson County, Missouri, the son of Willis Rogers & Nancy (Everett) Rogers. Any information on the wife & children of William would be appreciated.]
