    1. [MOJEFFER] FYI - Franklin County (FCHS) Picnic and History Fair
    2. Patty Frazer
    3. The Franklin County Historical Society will be hosting the First Annual FCHS Picnic and History Fair on Sunday, September 9, 2001 at 2 pm. We are inviting all of the area societies to attend, including those beyond Franklin County borders, and to set up a table (which they supply -- card tables suggested unless they have a LOT of stuff) and bring whatever books, postcards, videos, or other items they may have to sell and to bring newsletters and membership information to distribute as well. Gary Lucy, well-known area artist who has done numerous historical paintings of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers and of riverboats as well, will be our guest speaker. He will focus on his extensive research into the Lewis and Clark expedition. This is a rare opportunity to hear Lucy speak. There will be a catered lunch at 2 for $8 per person, payable in advance to FCHS, P. O. Box 293, Union, MO 63084. Contact society president Sue Cooley scooley@worldnet.att.net or 636-629-4851 for more information. This event will be held in the large covered pavillion behind the St. John's Mantels UCC Church on Highway A between Union and Washington, Missouri. It should be noted that Highway A runs parallel to Highway 47. From the Union intersection of 50 and 47, take 47 north towards Washington, but turn left onto Highway A at the third traffic signal (still Union) and make a right when Highway A turns right. Continue to the Mantels Church Road on the right (after the cemetery on the left). If coming from Washington, take Highway A south off of Hwy 100 to Mantels Church Road on the left. The church sits back from Hwy A quite a ways. The Franklin County Historical Society Museum is in the old parsonage next door. Please come! Sue Cooley President, FCHS (and Franklin Co Coordinator for the MO USGenWeb Project)
