    1. [MOJEFFER] Civil War Calvary Unit
    2. Thought this may be of interest to the Jefferson County area (taken from the rootsweb newsletter) ********************* I am a Danish documentary film maker looking for descendants of former Danish slaves for a series of documentaries. As a colonial power, Denmark sailed about 100,000 Africans from the Gold Coast to the West Indies and other parts of America. Most of the slaves ended up in the Caribbean or on the American continent, and a small part came to Europe. We are looking for living descendants, especially those who can document their ancestry and will be willing to tell their story in public. Alex Frank Larsen, Director of MEDIALEX alexfl@post6.tele.dk We are seeking descendants of, or those knowledgeable about, members of Union General John C. "FREMONT'S BODY GUARD" for inclusion in a book we are writing about this Civil War cavalry unit. The unit was comprised of men from St. Louis, Missouri, Cincinnati, Ohio, and areas surrounding those cities, and was commanded by Hungarian Major, Charles ZAGONYI. It was organized for three years' service in August 1861, but was disbanded prematurely in November 1861. We would also like to hear from descendants of soldiers in Confederate units that fought against this cavalry unit. There is a possibility that a video documentary could result from this effort. Please contact John L. Maurath conlaeth@juno.com
