Jim- I have checked the 1860, 1870, and 1880 censuses in Jefferson County for your John. I am struck immediately by the fact that there are a lot of Ogles in each census. Unfortunately, I was unable to find your John in the 1860 census. I looked through my transcribed version twice. It is possible that it was missed by the transcriber or there is some other error. I did find him in 1870, but he is not listed with his parents. He is in Valle Township, Hillsboro Post Office, household #272. This is the household of 30 year old Elbert Smith and his wife and family. Elbert is listed as a Livery Stable Keeper.
