    1. [MOJEFFER] Caution on FHL microfilms and Jefferson County records (was cemetery records)

    3. >There is a film at the Family History Center (#1598442).......The film has all >the family group sheets, correspondence, etc., on many of the families >whose names are mentioned in the recent inquiries, Wideman, Wilson, >Huskey, Vineyard, McKee,McKay,etc. . I don't like to disparage another researcher, but a word of caution is in order. Be VERY careful of her records, which are on FHL microfilms 1598439 through 1584342 and contain information on the LEE, WILLIAMS, LONG, HILDEBRAND, MANION, COOPER, DAVIS, GRAHAM, EOFF, HERRINGTON, WILSON, MOTHERSHEAD, WIDEMAN, McKAY, McKEE and related families. It was her research which over 20 years ago was responsible for much of the misinformation on the WIDEMAN family at that time, and which I occassionally still see pop up. Note that she often wrote her conclusions (which are not always correct) on her photocopies of original documents that are on the microfilm. The biggest caution that may be in order is if you use and/or order copies of original documents from the Jefferson County Court House on any of the families on which she researched. I have photocopies of ORIGINAL documents from the Jefferson County Court House which contain her handwriting, listing relationships which are NOT only NOT part of the document, but NOT correct. If you order copies of any ORIGINAL documents from Jefferson County on any of the above or related families, examine them carefully to be sure that what you are reading is part of the original record, and NOT something which she added to the document.
