Re: The family-owned hotel in Hillsboro, supposedly owned by the Clark family. To my knowledge, there is no hotel, family-owned or otherwise in Hillsboro today. In the 1800s, there were three, one of which was the Commercial Hotel, located across Main Street from the courthouse. My grandparents managed that hotel for a few years in the early 1900s. One of the other two was the Vollmar Hotel. S. E. Butler -------------- Original message from mojeffer-request@rootsweb.com: -------------- > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. Hello, I have been looking for the death date of Elijah Maness for many years. This last week I stumbled across it by accident. I was actually looking at the Jefferson Democrat microfilm in the year 1892 for someone elses obituary. I never found the obituary I was originally looking for, however, my eye caught sight of another familiar name. My husband is a direct descendant of Elijah Maness. Just looked over the newly added Newspaper Transcriptions. Does anyone know when or if we will be seeing transcriptions from 1900-1910?
I didn't find a 1880 Census for Charles Bergner. However I did find a SSDI for a Charles Bergner born 1910 died in DeSoto and a 1930 Census for the same one in DeSoto. 1870-Merimac-Jefferson county-MO Bergner Christian -66-M-Farmer-1200-200-Saxony- Frederica-41-F-Keeps house-Saxony Francis-17--MO Charles-13 Edward-11 William-4 Amelia-3-F Amollia-1/12-F
Have you done a search on the 1880 in Jefferson County just using the first name?. There are about 430 Charles in the county, but if you have birth place and or approximate birth year - this would narrow the search. If not then even with 430 to look at, you might find who you are looking for. More than once I have had to find people using just a first name and place of birth in the county I knew they had to be in. It takes a bit of time, but worth it when you finally find them. ----- Original Message ----- From: Rick Waggener<mailto:sequoia@pacbell.net> To: richard van wagenen<mailto:rckhound68111@yahoo.com> ; MOJEFFER@rootsweb.com<mailto:MOJEFFER@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, January 27, 2007 1:54 PM Subject: Re: [MOJEFFER] 1880 census Richard- I don't see anything close to this in Jefferson County, in either the book or the census itself.
