They received a charivari from their neighbors. W.H. and George W. CAPE of De Soto, paid their subscriptions last Saturday. A regiment of men the size of these brothers would make Emperor William feel proud. We learn that Capt. Wm. OTTOMEYER of Belew's Creek fed his hogs arsenic for the cholera. The remedy proved effectual and stopped the disease, but was death to the porkers. Mrs. Laura, wife of Elias F. DONNELL, was buried last Saturday. This leaves another home desolate. Mrs. D. was an estimable Christian lady and much respected by all. Mrs. Mary J. McCONNELL died at Bonne Terre on the 17th ult. She was a daughter of James and Caroline McCARTY of this county, and married W.J. McCONNELL on the 25th of November, 1856. The personal property of Henry R. When did Andrew & Mary come to Jefferson County? If I read the scribbling on Robert's death Cert correctly they are both from Virginia. So Mary could easily be a Jennings without there being a Jennings presence in Jefferson County. Lots of Jennings in VA. ----- Original Message ----- From: darlene green To: Art Behrens Sent: Monday, March 12, 2007 10:37 PM Subject: Re: [MOJEFFER] Andrew Richardson/Mary Jenne son Robert Richardson Hi Art, You are right about them being the right family being. And Charles was born in 1883, If I have the wrong birth year on Richard, then that would explain his not being on the 1840 census. I went to the library today and looked for the family in Washington Co but they weren't in either the 1850 or 1860 census'. The hunt Continues. Nancy is actually buried in the Stroup Cemetery at Victoria, MO. Down the road from Hemetite. I'm pretty sure the Mary Richardson in the 1850 census is Allen's wife (from the1840 census). Allen Richardson mar. in Washington Co on 22oct1835 Polly Christopher, since she was living with Thomas Christopher and his family it makes sense that he is her kinsman. I also think they are wrong about Mary being a Jennings as that is not a name associated with that area to my knowledge. I've heard the name Jenne befour. Yes I do need to do a lot more research on this but I know more now then I did a year ago thanks to all of you who are and have helped me. His wife, Mary, was appointed original administrator, but she relinquished that right, and turned over her husband's probate to be administered by Jonathan Smith. According to probate files on Andrew, James Cundiff was appointed guardian of Andrew's children. James and Mary were married approximately 13 months after Andrew's death. Now, I haven't been able to find James Cundiff in the 1850 census, so I'm not sure if he died. If the Mary Richardson living with Thomas and Isabella Christopher in 1850 is Andrew's widow, then I would assume that Mary and Mr. Cundiff got a quick divorce, or he left her. But again, these are assumptions at this point, as facts need to be found on James Cundiff. I tried to find the maiden name of Isabella Christopher to see if she was related to Mary, but have had no luck. Isabella was married previously before marrying Thomas, and I can't find that marriage record. I would assume Isabella originally was married in Illinois. Hope this has been a little help. Going through the !840 census I found Andrew (40-50) and a Wife (20-30) plus 2 females -5, there are no sons. In 1840 Robert would have been about 8 yrs. old. I also checked marriage records (internet). I noticed a lot of Richardsons in Franklin and Washington Co's. Am I looking at the wrong Andrew? In 1850 Mary is now living in the home of Thomas and Isabella Christopher and has children: Nancy G.-14, Palina -12, Elizabeth -8, William -5 and Andrew -4. I believe this is the Andrew from the 1840 census. I also found Mary Richardson, who married James Cundiff married him on 8mar1846 in Valle Twnp. so either I have the wrong Mary and James or the wrong Andrew. Can anyone tell me if this Mary and James are his mother and step-father? Any help with Robert's history would be appreciated. Misses Missouri BYRNS and Julia BOWLES were brides maids and Messrs. D.C. In addition to the families of the contracting parties there were present J. Ed. WALKER and wife, J.R. GORDON and wife, W.L. STONE and wife, and Misses Emma GIBSON, Anna GORDON and Nannie WILLIAMS. The wedding supper was a grand affair and, as all were seated at once and there was no occasion for haste, we think it safe to remark, that there were at least twenty square meals carried away in addition to what went inside ye editor's vest. The bride and groom were a handsome couple, and, as far as human knowledge extends, are well worthy of each other, and that is saying as much for them as can be said. Genealogist to present program on DNA Testing at Library March 29 Family lineage riddles can be solved through the process of DNA Testing. A program to explain the process will be given by genealogist John Abney at the local branch of Ozark Regional Library on Thursday, March 29, at 6:30 p.m. The program is sponsored by Ste. Genevieve Project Pioneers and everyone is welcome. "I am a genealogist, not a geneticist," Abney sets the record straight. The presentation is meant as an introduction to the subject of genealogical DNA testing and, as such, is mainly concerned with the use of DNA testing for genealogical purposes. Abney's presentation touches briefly on the medical side of DNA testing. An overview of the last 10 years in DNA studies will be presented in slides. Abney will explain the makeup of DNA and the Human Genome. One outstanding fact, he says, is that "We are all related. Over 99 percent of our DNA is the same, across all the world's population." Multiple people would have to take the test to prove relationship. Also, surprises may turn up due to adoption, illegitimacy or infidelity. Abney has attended state and national seminars on the use of DNA testing in genealogy and has read related books, but has no actual experience with using DNA testing. He has been involved in the field of genealogy for the past 14 years, having volunteered at Family History Centers in Fairborn, Ohio, and Farmington, Mo. He has attended multiple state and national genealogy conferences, and completed Course 2, Intermediate Genealogy and Historical Studies at the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research, Samford University, Birmingham, Ala. Abney, who lives at Annapolis, Mo., is secretary of Iron County, Mo., Genealogy Society. He is affiliated with Missouri State Genealogical Association, National Genealogical Society, Association of Professional Genealogists and the Center for French Colonial Studies.

Silver Plume had about 700 inhabitants. Forty buildings were burned, and a number were destroyed in the effort of the populace to stop the spread of the fire. The town was located on either side of a narrow gulch, and the only buildings now standing are a few cabins which stood off the main street.
