D. Naumann, send my your email address. I have looked your Toy family up in several books and it is too much to include in the newsletter. Mostly census. Linda lwhansel@aol.com
It seems that there are is a lot of information being sent to this new group regarding cemetery records, so I thought I would submit 3 graves that I would like to find. I am fairly certain that there are no markers, so I am hoping that someone who is looking at burial records might run across them. They would probably be in the Morse Mill area. Several members of the family are buried at the Bethleham Church cemetary, so they might be there. David Chance died May 18, 1904. He was a CW Confederate Vet who served from North Carolina and came to Mo. in abt 1870. Harry Lynn Manion and Claude Howard Manion, both died abt. 1895-1900 as young children. If anyone should run across these names, please let me know
D. From the 1860 Federal Census of Jefferson County, Missouri, Meramac Township, High Ridge Post Office, taken July 12. 1860, household #666: Toy, Wm; age- 50, male, farmer, real estate- $600, personal property- $400, brn- KY Mary A.; age- 43, female, brn- KY William ; age- 21, male, farm hand, brn- MO Elizabeth; age- 16, female, brn- MO John; age- 13, male, brn- MO Lorenzo; age- 9, male, brn- MO Julia; age- 7, male, brn- MO Cornelius; age- 4, brn- MO Mary; age- 6/12, female, brn- MO From the 1870 Federal Census of Jefferson County, Missouri, Merrimac Township, Hillsboro Post Office, taken August 2, 1870, household 424: Toy, William; age- 60, male, farmer, real estate- $1000, personal property- 300, brn- MO Lorenz is listed on the transcribed version that I have, but there is no information listed with him. There is only one other Toy on the census, a 30 year old women named Ann, who is listed as insane and living int he poor house. The William and Cornelius you mentioned and listed above in the old man's house, are not listed. In the 1880 Federal Census of Jefferson County, Missouri, Cornelieus is listed in the home of Henry Hendricks and his wife Mary,in Meramec Township. His relationship in the household is Brother-in-law, which I take to mean Mary is his youngest sister. If you are interested in the entire record, I would be happy to send it. He is also listed as single and a farmer. "Loranco Toy" (age 30) is also listed in Little Rock Township,. I can also send this record if you are interested. The William and Cornelius you mentioned are not here either. Rick Waggener

I posed this question to them last night: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------ Why not put a searchable database of the names of enlisted personel. Illinois has this & it is extremely helpful. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------ They sent this reply: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------- Your suggestion has been forwarded to the web design team for consideration. Ann Quinn Vance Reference Services ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- Who knows, they just might do it. This would be extremely useful. If you would like to voice your opinion in support of this, here is the addy. Please email us with your comments and suggestions! There was a cemetary message with a list of the people being moved or on a monument on MO, Bradenton or something. I do remember grandma talking to or about a Tilly,, I thought Kersting was her surname, But could have been a Phillips. I have so many files I am behind on. THe names in there included a Walter Phillips and Tilly Phillips next to each other. I guess they were married. Does any one have information on these Phillips? thanks, diane, featherartworks@juno.com , Sebastian, FL http://featherart.vstorehome.com/ , http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/k/r/u/Diane-E-Krupaphillips/index.ht ml http://www.angelfire.com/fl/learntobe/index.html
Hello everyone, I was hoping to find someone knowledgeable in the location of St. John's Lutheran church/cemetery and also what records exist and where they may be accessed. While browsing through the Tombstone transcription page I noticed that some of the entries had noted that there were no stones, so I assume that some other sort of record must exist for the cemetery. Did the church keep these records and might it also contain marriages? Any help would be appreciated. Also, what area newspapers were in existance from the early 1900's to about 1950, and are they microfilmed? Thank-you Jonathan
Can someone give me the name of the Libreian at the DeSoto Library whom I might contact?
I am still looking for my William McCormack roots in MO. William was my gg grandfather. He moved to Callaway/Jefferson/Montgomery County area in the 1820s from VA via TN. Is anyone out there a cousin or have any info on the family? Bud McCormack Pigeon Forge, TN
Desoto Joe, will you do a lookup for my grandmother, Mary C. Bates grave, she died in 1818, probably in Herculaneum. She was the wife of John W. Honey and the daughter of Elias Bates. Also, I am trying to find the burial place of Ann Chely Bates who was the wife of Elias. Their daughter was christened in the St. Genevieve church in 1801, and that is all I know about her. Thanks, Ellen dandemac@camasnet.com
