Good Afternoon... I am new to this list and wanted to get this out there...I am having a very hard time finding anything and hope that someone out there can help. I am looking for info on my grandfather: David William Landis b.1909 d.Oct 1958 His parents were George (b. Athens Ohio 1880)and Mary Landis (Mary also went by her middle name of Alberta), he was born in Belton Mo., married and divorced Ruth Pritchard of Columbus Ohio. (she never moved out of state, so I am guessing that he lived there for a while...Ruth's step-grandparents were John & Ida Butterworth, John died and Ida remarried to a William Landis, who I believe to be somehow related to David which would also explain his being in Ohio and how perhaps him and my grandmother met.) I last found him living in valley Falls, maybe with his mother or brother (brother was Abram Landis m1.Norma, m2.Easter McGraw) as his brother was residing there when he died. I have no idea if he remarried, had other children, or even where he died. All I have is his social security application, and his name on my mom's b-certificate. I hope you all can help me with this some. I am more than willing to share all the info I have or am willing to help others with their stumbling blocks....my website is listed below Thanx in advance Stacie ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Do You Know Jesus as your Savior? {John 3:16} ```````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` Sweet Potato's Genealogy Page! http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sweetpoe/index.html Sweet Poe's Sister Site: http://communities.msn.com/SweetPotatosGenealogyPage Researching: Landis (12 sp.), Morr, Scheck, Elwell, Standridge, Lewis & Watts. ***************************************************************************
Hello all, I discovered some good news and bad news yesterday about my Diana Hornsby who married William Dudley Pyeatt in Burnett Co, TX, 1853 and who spent most of her life in Jefferson Co, MO, where William died in 1912. I found that she lived in Tulsa, OK, and is buried in the Oaklawn Cemetery - her date of death was June 6, 1928. Now for the bad news. Tulsa did not have obituaries in the paper until 1940s or 1950s. Before that time you had to be murdered or a notable citizen to get written up in the paper and even then the obit may not have most normal genealogical info. Also, they have an index to all people who have files in the City of Tulsa funeral homes and her name did not appear. So, I was hoping that someone might have placed an obit in the Jefferson County, MO, paper as some of her children might still have been in that area. Does anyone have access to the newspaper (by the way, what newspaper served that area) who could look up Diana Pyeatt 6-6-1928 and William Dudley Pyeatt ?-?-1912? Thank you, Marianne

If anyone on the list has access to family histories in Jefferson co., could you please check to see if you have anything on Edward Butler who came to Jefferson Co. around 1803. I also would like to request the 1850 census for him on page 275. And William in 1850 page 472. In 1860 Edward is also listed on page 490. If someone could be so kind to check any of this out, I will be very grateful. Arlene acrawf@tacnet.missouri.org -- HOMEPAGE -- http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~arlene44
There are more than one John F Wideman's. I have the marriage license of John F Wideman of Jefferson Co m: Miss Mary I McKay 25Dec1872 in Jefferson Co, MO - - officiating Julius Emmons. In the printed marriage book, there is also a John F Wideman m: Mary T Miller 28May1864, and a John Wideman M: Julia Seal 19Nov1874. Perhaps the ages on your certificate can shed light on who you have. Sounds like the wrong John F.
