I am seeking information on Joseph J. Brown born 1816 and died 1893 married to Patsy Yawberry (Yarbrough) July 1839 in Potosi, Missouri. It is believed that he and/or some of his immediate family lives in four different counties. Washington,Franklin, St. Frances, and Jefferson. It is not known where he was born. His family settled in Franklin County where it is thought that most of his family was born and raised. The grave stone where he is buried gives his name Joseph J. Brown and Martha Brown. Could any one tell me where he is from and who his parents are and also the parents of Martha Patsy Yarbrough? Any help would be appreciated. Sandy
Posted on: Jefferson County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Jefferson/10432 Surname: JOHNSON, MILLER ------------------------- Thank you Maria. I met one of your Valle relatives at a reunion of Johnson/Millers hosted by Velva Miller Dick,(d/o Clyde Miller and Mary Jane Johnson.) I can't recall his first name right now. I was hoping the John I mentioned would be an uncle of Thomas W Johnson, a brother to Thomas C Johnson and a son of Calvin Johnson. He continues to be one of the many Johnsons to elude me. Sandy
Please try this link to my online book of the Becker family of Maxville, MO. I have a list of surnames that you can check for relations. Apparently the first link didn't copy when I sent it last week. Just click on the link below. In this case, the John Pyatt is my husband's ancestor who died c1827 in Jefferson County (Thank you for looking). I ordered the microfilm that covered all estate files from 18xx to 18xx from the MO Archives for $15 because the copies were going to cost me $12.50 (The probate went on for 12 years or so). Unfortunately, I loaned the film to someone who hasn't returned it to me - or, I could see if it had your ancestor. What is the name and case # you are looking for? I also have several rolls of microfilm of Jefferson County court records, but, they would just have the court's decisions or sworn statements, etc. and not the estate files (inventories, receipts, administrator's accounts, etc.). I have had really good luck with ordering microfilms (through my LDS) for a certain ancestor's estate file and finding when I viewed the film that they were filmed in alphabetical order and I get all (or some) of that particular surname included on that roll. My LDS will be closed this Saturday or I could look up your ancestor's name and see what roll # it would be on. If you want to do that yourself (if you have access to an LDS center), you look in the locality index under Missouri - Jefferson County - Probate and then find a film that includes your ancestor's surname range or the case # range. Also, you can do a search at www.Familysearch.org although, I find that I don't have as much luck with getting specific information that I need off of the internet the way I do when I look at the fiche. I didn't find a Piatt but there is the following listing: Pyatt, John Case number: 406 This case number is what I don't know about...or how to get a copy of that probate record.

I ordered and just received from the Genealogy Society the index to the probate records for Jefferson County. Can someone please tell me how I might order a copy of one of these records? and the cost for the copy? Does the county have someone to do it or will I need a local volunteer to help me with this? I would think that with a date, etc. you could order the microfilm through LDS and make copies for yourself. However, someone else with more Jefferson Co experience could probably give you a better answer. Did you receive the entire thing - or just a requested page? What time span does it cover? Would you look for any Piatt/Pyatt/Pyeatt for me? Posted on: Jefferson County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Jefferson/10430 Surname: Valle Johnson Robins Hampton ------------------------- I have no idea what the comment re:"same stone as John" means. Eleanora J Johnson and Thomas L Johnson are my Great Grandparents. As I remember it they are in an area with a concrete edging around it. The other graves are of a son who never married, Silas, and at least one infant. The stone of the infant was put up probably at the same time of Silas death which was probably in the 70's. I am leaving tomorrow and don't have time to look it up right now. It just happens that I am going to the area within the next few days. If I have time I will run out there and refresh my memory. I have a digital camera and will try to take a few shots. I have been watching the messages for many months, this is the first time I have seen any names I recognize. I am also interested in the Valle's from Washington and Jefferson counties. Later..Marie

Ok, I'll tell you what I know about the Williamsons; My grandfather Charlie Hamilton Williamson born abt. 1879 to Daniel & Bashabee Trammell Williamson in Valley Park,Mo. Charlie later called himself Claude Williamson. There was a Jake and Betsy Williamson as witnesses to his marriage there in Eureka,Mo. (Thats all I know about him, as I heard he hid his past ( I have documents that Daniel married a Ellen Trammell and Basha was her sister?)This line is a mistery. Where were you Williamsons in 1870s? EDWARDS, Still living in Eureka, Mo. ; My Edwards line comes from Elihu & Nora Edwards who settled in Eureka, Mo. about 1810. Elihu and Nora had many children. Thomas b. 1833 Mary 1835 Justin 1837 Sylvester 1839 Susan 1841 Noah 1844 Jon 1846 Eli 1849 William 1852 Emily 1859 They were all from Eureka, Mo. area but moved around to Jefferson and franklin Counties. In 1993 the Heritage Book re-print company offered for sale, "Genealogical Material from Jefferson Co," by Maness. Due to lack of response they declined to re-print the book, and rescinded the offer. It usually means that someone possessed the book, and inquired about a re-print. And I presume the book was over 50 years old, due to Copyright constrictions. Does anyone know of this book, and would it be worthwhile to attempt to get it re-printed? Joan Mullen, Wichita, KS Heritage Book, Inc. 1540 E. Pointer Ridge Place, Bowie, MD 20716-1859
