The Fox-Arnold Branch of the Jefferson County Library is sponsoring a Civil War ammunition making demonstration & minimuseum on Thursday, June 21st. The program is presented by Mike Watson, one-man factory & Civil War reenactor. He will demonstrate the preparation of Civil War-era cartridges & will present photos & artifacts. Watson, has furnished ammunition rounds used in the movies Glory & Ride With The Devil & has been on Show Me St. Louis. The program will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the Community Room of St. Anthony's Arnold medical building, 3619 Richardson Square Drive. The building is next to the Wehrenberg movie theater & behind Taco Bell/Pizza Hut. All ages are welcome. There is no cost to attend but registration is requested. He was born March 28, 1952 in St. Louis and was a U.S. Army veteran. He played lead guitar for several local country music bands. He is survived by his wife Michele (Turner) Miller of Valles Mines, two sons, Michael and Joseph of Valles Mines, and one granddaughter, McKenzie. He is also survived by his parents, Edward and Margaret (Moser) Miller and a brother, Timothy (Tina) Miller, all of Valles Mines. Visitation will be today at 5 p.m. with a prayer service at 6 p.m. at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre [St. Francois County, MO]. He married Edna Matilda Ziske and two sons (twins) were born of this marriage in 1910. He owned and operated a store in Hillsboro and owned a farm on Big River. The property is still owned by the family with one relative still living in DeSoto.

Donna was born in 1951 to Don and 'Dottie' (Nold) Russell. Don and Dottie are buried in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. I have our Russell family genealogy almost complete except for Donna. My 92 yr old mother-in-law, Anna, would like to hear from her also. Don died in 1972. Dottie died in 1987. In researching James McCulloch, father of Minerva McCulloch, I have run across 3 marriages and am wondering if it is the same James. July 11 1830 James McCulloch - Catherine Brown November 29, 1832 James McCulloch - Lucy Baker May 17, 1849 - James McCulloch - Amanda Alvoid The 1850 census Jefferson County census show James, his wife Amanda, 3 daughters Sarah 19, Minerva 14, and Margaret age 10, along with a small child age whose last name I took to be Alwood, but may be Alvoid. Amanda is too young to be the mother of the 2 oldest girls, so James must have been married before. I am trying to find out who the mother of Minerva was. My very clever second cousin once removed, Gloria Terry has just broken through one of our mutual brick wall and found the family of William T. Terry (b abt 1835) in Jefferson Co. In Valle Township, Jefferson Co., MO, P.O. Avoca, she found William Terry, age 54, farmer, b. VA; Sarah, age 33, b. MO; James W., age 20, occupation-miner, b. KY; William T., age 16, occupation-miner, b. MO; Thomas J., age 15, occupation-miner, b.KY; then George who was 12, b. MO; sisters, Mary E., 10, b.MO; Sinthia A., 5, b. MO; and Elizabeth E., 2, b.MO; also listed is Millissa Robertson, age 20, b.MO; and Hamilton George?, 25, grocer, b. MO. Sarah looks to be a second wife and probably not the mother of the oldest sons. In the 1860 census William Terry (the elder) is 62, Farmer. Sarah is missing. Thomas is age 24, a miner, b. KY George is 21, a miner, b.Mo; Cinthia is 15, b. MO; and Elizabeth is 12, b.MO. >From other research we know that William T. Terry was in Granby, Newton Co. MO married to Sarah Elizabeth Price, b 1844 in 1860. Nearby them lived, James Roberts, also a miner. He married S. E. Price's sister, America Emma Price in 1861. James and America Roberts moved (back?) to Jefferson Co (Valles Mines) where their children were born.
