Hello, I need the site to look up marriages in this county. Don't have the exact date but possibly after 1907. The marriage of Harry ANDERTON to Leola I. Faulconer ROBERTS. Possibly in the St. Louis, MO or KS area. Would appreciate any help or direction I can get. Thank you, Donna Roberts in CA
I would like to thank Charlotte Maness for information she sent to me regarding William A. and Narcissus Ann (WILEY) JACKSON. I had "lost" William and Narcissus "Ann" after the 1870 census, Jefferson County, Mo. and had no idea where they went. Charlotte found them in Richland, Pulaski County, Mo. This gives me a whole new place to start searching. I will be leaving Denver on Sat. June 17th, for a few days research in Jefferson and Washington Counties, but now I will stop in Richland on my way down there. Thank You Charlotte. Mary Miller marykell@aol.com
Posted on: Jefferson County Obituaries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/JeffersonObits/10263 Surname: JACKSON, WILEY ------------------------- >From the Jefferson Democrat newspaper, DeSoto, Missouri: Wednesday, 31 October 1888-DIED-At her residence, in Richland, Pulaski County, Mo, Oct 21, 1888, Narcissus Ann, wife of William A. JACKSON, aged 51 years and 9 months. Mrs. JACKSON was raised on Dry Creek, Jefferson County, Mo and was a daughter of the late *Will? WILLEY. She was married to Mr. JACKSON, in this county, June 12th, 1861, and they moved to Pulaski County in August, 1874, where they have since resided. She was sick with typhoid fever, from the 12th to the 21st. She leaves a number of relatives in this county, and a husband and children in Pulaski County to mourn her loss. *Should be Eli WILEY.
Can anyone add any more information on this family? Carolyn Wilburn Medlin Jefferson Democrat Newspaper 18 May 1877 Obituary HAMILTON--At her mother's in Hermatite, Mrs. Cyntha Hamilton, of pneumonia, after five days of illness, in the 23rd year of her age. She left a husband and two small children, one 3 years old, the other 3 months. She came to her mother's for a visit, expecting to return after a brief stop. How strange yet full of compassion are the ways of Providence. Dying in the embrace of a mother, she leaves her darling children to nest where she fell asleep. Sister Hamilton connected with the M.C. Church South, six years age, and lived and died in fellowship with the same. Mr. Hamilton has the tender sympathy of al that know him in this unlooked for calamity. The children for the present are left with her widowed mother, whose hands were already full, but sister Pinson has so creditably situated herself in this community that we feel God will bless her in this now and trying bereavement and charge. In the midst of love we are indeed in death. Her funeral was conducted at the M. E. Church, May 6th , by elder Shepherd, of the Christian Connection, who gave an appropriate address to a large audience-- subject: Resurrection of the dead." "Shall we gather at the river?" Oh yes, fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, and darling children, one and all, "shall gather at the river." Friend.

Posted on: Jefferson County Obituaries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Mo/JeffersonObits/10262 Surname: Cooksey, Smith, Wininger, Nelms ------------------------- David Franklin Cooksey was born December 14, 1877 in Jefferson County, Missouri. He was brought by his parents when young to St. Francois county. Remained the most of his time here. In 1917 he enlisted in the war. He was sent to Camp Doniphan Oklahoma. He was sent overseas early in 1918. He wrote home often to his folks and always seemed to be pleased that he was over there. November the 6th, I got a telegram that he was killed in action. It is so hard to bear this thought. In 1914 he professed Christ and he joined the Baptist Church at Flat River, Mo. He left there and went to Washington taking his church letter with him but when he came back he placed his letter back in that same church. He was an Odd Fellow and sure loved that lodge. He was also a K. of P. member. He was forty-one years and ten months old. He leaves to mourn his loss, his mother, two brothers and three sisters, Mrs. Smith in Sioux City, Iowa, Mrs. Wininger of Flat River, Louis Cooksey at Camp Cnuster, Mich., Grover Cooksey at Elvins, and Mrs. Jennie Nelms at home in Bonne Terre. It is sure hard to say we can't look for Dave home again. CARD OF THANKS I sincerely thank the people of Bonne Tere who has shown their sympathy to me and also the sympathy from surrounding cities and towns which is St. Louis, Salem, Mo., DeSoto, Flat River, Desloge and Cincinnati, Ohio. Dave's Mother, MRS. M. E. COOKSEY. [The Bonne Terre Star, November 22, 1918]

Gerry, Yes, we do except donations here at the Northwest Library in High Ridge. In fact, we have quite a nice family history section, because of people like you that donate their books. Im sure it will see a lot of use. I have a book I would like to donate to the Jefferson County Library or Gen. Asso. Does anyone know if they take donations? It is a book I wrote last summer on the past fifteen years of my research on the Becker families of Jefferson County. I have traced them to the 1650s. Other names include many Jeff. Co. residents, such as Kessler, Zipp, Steckel. It has been a long year of working with a very small publisher and has taken this long to get the final product in my hands. It is a hardbound edition with an index at the end. Since so many of these folks are from Jeff. Co, I thought I would try to give the library a copy of it, making some of my work available to other researchers who may be interested in the same families. Thanks, Gerry Meier http://www.meiermultimedia.com/~gmeier
