Hi I am trying to find out where Louis and Harriet (Wooldridge) Thurman are buried. They were last documented as living in Festus, Jefferson Co MO in the 1900 census. Last nite I created a free webpage on Rootsweb named: jeffersoncountyfestusmissouri It contains the first three of the 2nd grade class pictures (1949-50;1953-54;and 1956-57). Good luck...Kay! Today they put the new Boards up so there's no telling "where in the World" they are. I've been finding stuff that I originally posted in my County (St. Francois County) posted in Alabama, California, etc. It's an A-#1 nightmare! I've been on the verge of tears all morning and am just SICK, SICK, SICK over this!!! We've spent the last several months posting hundreds of obits to our St. Francois County Obituary Board and now we can't get them to come up in a simple (or advanced) search. Before they were picky about keeping the queries separate from the data entries and now everything is jumbled up together. The person who dreamed this up needs to be committed, in my opinion! As a colonial power, Denmark sailed about 100,000 Africans from the Gold Coast to the West Indies and other parts of America. Most of the slaves ended up in the Caribbean or on the American continent, and a small part came to Europe. We are looking for living descendants, especially those who can document their ancestry and will be willing to tell their story in public. "FREMONT'S BODY GUARD" for inclusion in a book we are writing about this Civil War cavalry unit. The unit was comprised of men from St. Louis, Missouri, Cincinnati, Ohio, and areas surrounding those cities, and was commanded by Hungarian Major, Charles ZAGONYI. It was organized for three years' service in August 1861, but was disbanded prematurely in November 1861. We would also like to hear from descendants of soldiers in Confederate units that fought against this cavalry unit. There is a possibility that a video documentary could result from this effort.
