This cemetery is located in Crystal City, at the intersection of County Road & England Ave. This is the most vandalized cemetery I have seen, so far, in Jefferson County. Most stones I find that are busted, are from the weight & the elements, every one broken in here, was from vandals. There are many here, that have no stones left or are so busted up from vandals, that it is very hard to read them. Visitors to the Fletcher House in Hillsboro Mo. on Saturday, July 14, will have the opportunity to see the Civil War as it actually was - in daytime and nighttime activities. Reenactors with the Missouri Brigade Medical Service will spend the day doing typical chores - sewing, cleaning weapons. Visitors can observe these activities free. >From 8 -11:00 PM., reenactors will portray a field hospital, and candlelight tours will be given. Admission is $3.00 for each adult and $5.00 for each family. Visitors will be able to: view Colonel Thomas C. Fletcher and his family interacting before he leaves for the battle of Pilot Knob, Mo.; view orderlies and officers working in the parlor to get things ready to pack and load on the wagon; view women in the dining room making bandages and fixing food; view various stages of medical operations in the kitchen; view wounded soldiers waiting for treatment on the porch; and view a cooking demonstration. Laura Lane will explain to visitors why modern-day people enjoy participating in Civil War reenactments. Refreshments will be available. This event is part of a series of activities in 2001 to mark the 150th birthday of the Fletcher House, the home of Thomas C. Fletcher, the first native - born governor of Missouri.
