I have tried for 2 days to get on the Ancestry.com website and I keep getting the message, "Cannot find Website." Is anyone else having this problem???? Thanks, Mary
Yes, Mary - I've been having problems today. I've tried to log on since 5:30am Las Vegas time - it is now past 9:00pm and I can't get on. I called their phone numbers and get a recording that says their hours are M-F 7a-7p. The message says to send an email if you're having a problem!! Maybe it's because of the long holiday weekend load? I don't know but it sure ticks me off to pay for something I can't use. Mary Bittick Gallano
I found no Samuel or Jane Green on the 1880 census who were born in Mo. within a 5 year period either way of their birth date. I also found no John or Benjamin in Missouri whose parents were born in Mo. I did a search within 3 years either way of their birth. I did find one John Green who was born in Mo. in 1846-47 whose parents were born in Mo. He is listed in Red Bluff, Tehama, CA. page 456A of the 1880 census. Also in the household is wife Martha b. in MO. as were her parents and a daughter Mary a. 12 who was born in Mo. By 1880 it is quite possible Samuel was deceased and Jane also, unless she was remarried. I did not look for the daughters, because by 1880 they were probably married also. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marianne Pyeatt" <mcpgene@excite.com> To: <MOJEFFER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 29, 2001 5:51 AM Subject: [MOJEFFER] Samuel and Jane Green Pyeatt > Samuel and Jane Pyeatt Green > > Jane Pyeatt was born c1820 in Missouri to John and ? Samuel and Jane Pyeatt Green Jane Pyeatt was born c1820 in Missouri to John and ? Pyeatt. She was married January 16, 1834 in St. Louis County, Missouri, to Samuel Green who was born c1809 in Missouri. In 1834, Samuel received a portion of the estate of John Piatt from the administrator (and Jane's brother), Benjamin Pyeatt. Jane would have been barely 14 at the time of the marriage based on her age on the 1850 census enumeration. With her parents dead and many of her older siblings married and having children of their own, I imagine Jane was ready to start her own life. The children of Samuel and Jane: Maria A Green b: c1835 MO John W Green b: c1837 MO Benjamin F Green b: c1839 MO ?Rufia C Green (male) b: c1841 MO Andrew J Green b: c1843 MO Louisa ?T Green b: c1846 MO Sarah E Green b: c1849 MO Samuel and family appeared as follows on the 1850 census of St. Louis County, Missouri, Merrimack Township: Green, Samuel age 41 / male / farmer / $500 / Missouri Green, Jane age 30 / female / Missouri Green, Maria A age 15 / female / Missouri Green, John W age 13 / male / Missouri Green, Benjamin F age 11 / male / Missouri Green, Rufia C age 9 / male / Missouri Green, Andrew J age 7 / male / Missouri Green, Louisa ?T age 4 / female / Missouri Green, Sarah E age 1 / female / Missouri (this family enumerated #1573/1603) Their neighbors were #1567 William Hale; #1568 Robert Patton; #1569 Jefferson May; #1570 Rebecca Hooper; #1571 William Pirot; #1572 Martin Livings; #1574 Wm Harris; #1575 Thomas Bell; #1576 John O'Keefe; #1577 Robert Hamilton. I couldn't find a Samuel or Jane Green in any 'familiar' counties in 1860 or 1870 indexes. In 1860 there was a John Green in the index who was in Jefferson County, Merrimack Township pg 641. However, no other of Samuel's children appear in the index and this could be a different John Green. This leads me to the theory that Samuel and family left Missouri for another state after 1850. There is no Samuel in Jefferson County - but there are 61 of them in Missouri on the 1880 census - if you can give a birth date or name of wife or children - I might be able to find him - if he is there. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marianne Pyeatt" <mcpgene@excite.com> To: <MOJEFFER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 28, 2001 12:50 PM Subject: [MOJEFFER] 1880 census index: Samuel Green > > Could someone check the Jefferson County 1880 index for me and see if there > is a Samuel Green.
