    3. Just wanted to say that the probate record numbers do not necessarily correspond to the date of the record. You would ~think~ that they would run in order...with #1 being the oldest, etc...but that doesn't seem to always be the case. Don't ask me why! :) Kay, if you haven't found out an answer to your question....I could maybe call Loretta for you and ask if she knows. 1. Genealogy Night at Park Hills Library
    2. william resinger
    3. We would like to invite all researchers, to join us at the Park Hills Library (St. Francois Co.) for Genealogy Night, which is held on the first Monday of every month, from 6pm to 8pm. Genealogy Night is an informal get together of researchers who share stories, info, and researching techniques. Those that have joined us in the past, know that we do alot of talking and laughing with all the sharing. Beginners and seasoned researchers are very welcome to join us. We are working on building up the genealogy dept. in the library, and have recently added 20 new rolls of microfilm and quite a few new books to aid researchers. Because of donations, we will soon be adding more microfilm and books to the library's collection. We are asking researchers to submit copies of their family files, documents, etc. to the library and we have started a Surname File, to aid those searching for new cousins. The library has 2 microfilm readers and 4 computers with internet access and a subscription to Ancestry. All copies made, on Genealogy Night, are free, thanks to the wonderful librarians. Also, every Monday evening (5pm to 7pm), we are at the library to assist anyone that needs help in their research. We hope to see you, this Monday evening, May 2nd, at the library! 3. Kay, I have purchased photocopies of some of the Jefferson College probate collection. The earliest I have is #356 from 1834. The latest I have is #6422 from 1938. The closest I have to your number is #4211 from 1918. So, your #4356 would be very close to 1920. Several of the probate records I have received have had a great deal of information; a few have been disappointing because of their brevity. Good luck. I hope that helps. 2. Rita, I haven't heard anything about Immaculate Conception paving over part of the cemetery. You might try calling the church to ask if their records show him/her buried there. Not all graves had monuments placed on them. Also the "Catholic Cemetery" could be St. Joseph at Kimmswick/Imperial. You would have to see the context of the newspaper article. If it was under Kimmswick News it could be St. Joseph's. Dave Hallemann [email protected]

    3. Dave, Thanks for the clarification on the "Catholic Cemetery" reference. The Xavier Arnold listing is the one that I am interested in. I knew that he is buried in St. Joseph's in Kimmswick along with his second wife, Magdalena. I have a picture of the tombstone. The "Catholic Cemetery" listing must be for his first wife, Maria Heimbach, as September 1, 1884 is her death date. I had found a burial record for her in the Immaculate Conception Church records under her name as Maria Arnold. In the Jefferson County death records I found her listed not as Maria but as Xavier Arnold, farmer's wife, buried at Catholic Church Cemetery. Since I have had others search for her tombstone at Immaculate Conception Cemetery to no avail I was very hopeful another "Catholic Cemetery" might exist. Now my guess is that she never had a tombstone or if she did it has been destroyed over the years. Somewhere I heard that Immaculate Conception paved over a section in the 1950's for a parking lot. Do you know if this is true? If so what did they do with the tombstones? In the Immaculate Conception Church records her father, John Heimbach's burial in 1877 is listed but his tombstone cannot be found. Xavier Arnold's parents, George Arnold (1879) and Magdalena Lang Arnold's (1885) death records are also among the burials listed in the Immaculate Conception records but no tombsones have been found. I would love to know what happedned to them. Rita

    3. Rita, I am only taking a GUESS but I would say Arnold, Xavier is Immaculate Conception in Arnold, Mo as that is the area he is from, same for Grimm, Fritz, Gruewald, John, Roesch, Alphine see other Roesch's in listing. My listing shows Brimmer in "Catholic House Springs" which I would guess was Our Lady Queen of Peace. Also Geatly, Margaret as this is probably a misspelling for GeatlEy, Margaret which is listed as dying on the same date and buried there also. These records were probably added later to the listings from family members or more likely from an obituary taken from a new paper and not directly recorded off monuments. Many time a reporter didn't know the name of a cemetery so said in an obituary "Catholic Cemetery" "or the nearest town's name "buried at Silica". Hope this is some help. 1. Re: Huskey (Metford)
    2. Michel Metford-Platt
    3. Lisa, Thank you for your input. Yes, indeed it seems to be someone they admired. I wasn't aware of the Decker and Metford name. I've done a new search on google. I have found a Metford Mountfield (1912-1979) connection in Jefferson Co., too. There must be somebody in Jefferson Co. who made quite a bang whose name was Metford. Maybe you know the answer, but do the Huskeys have any association with guns professionally. I ask that because Wm Ellis Metford (1824-1899), m 2x great-grandmother's brother was involved in Arms research in the 19th century and was quite well known in those circles. There was a Metford rifle, then Lee-Metford rifle, later replaced by the Lee-Enfield. But it's so weird that Metford would show up so specifically in Jefferson Co. The only other place it shows up is in Virginia where there was a 17th century Metford settler and in upstate New York (Metford Frost, but eventually I made that connection to an English marriage, too). Any idea where I can pursue the Decker line? You never know! 3. Hi Lisa (and list), Your email came in just as I was typing one to you, but I've scrapped that one. You've given me a lot to look at with regards to all the Andrew Jackson Huskeys. As I (sort of) mentioned, I am trying to find out where the Metford name fits in to the Huskeys. I research the Metford family name and have been doing so since 1978 (I think). I was off the internet for six years (being in Africa has its downsides) and now that I am back on the internet (I'm still in S. Africa, but was born in Detroit -- long story) I am pleased with all the new changes. And more people. Already in just a few days with Kay and now you, inroads have been made. Anyway, since Metford is such a rare name, and I collect them all, I have been trying to piece the puzzle together of the Metfords as they daughtered out, and now I'm back trying to trace the Huskeys, or at least Metford where it came in. Incidentally, Metford comes from Somerset, England. I have some records back in the early 1600's, but I have a direct line from 1658. With the Huskeys from the information that you and Kay have given me, plus the inscriptions from cemetery stones, and some death records I sent away for some years back, this is what I have (I have put Metford in CAPS): two HUSKEY brothers | 1.1 DeLaFayette Ramsey Huskey & Maria J. Wiley | | | 1.1.1.1 Eli Huskey Sr. (1879-1965) | | | | 1.1.1.1.1 Eli Huskey Jr. & Bernetta Gideon | | | | 1.1.1.1.1.1 Linda June Huskey (1946-1960) | | | 1.1.1.2 Andrew Jackson Huskey (b1877) & Anna E. Hamrick | 1.2 William Jackson Huskey | | 1.2.1 James Huskey & Nancy Caroline Williams | | | 1.2.1.1a Andrew Jackson Huskey* (1872-1952) & Florence A. Wideman | | | | 1.2.1.1a.1 Standly Edward Huskey (1892-1943) | | | | 1.2.1.1a.2 Clyde Charles Huskey (1896-1972) | | | | 1.2.1.1a.3 Hughey Raymond Huskey (1900-1963) & Golden Schrum | | | | | 1.2.1.1a.3.1 Richard METFORD Huskey (1920-1977) | | | 1.2.1.1b Andrew Jackson Huskey* (1872-1952) & Susan Emmaline Lanham | | | 1.2.1.2 Millard Fillmore Huskey plus the other HUSKEY line (which I've time-lined up): | | 1.3 Alexander Huskey & Sarah Partney | | | 1.3.1 Arthur Louis Huskey (b1871) & Laura B.F. Pierce (b1870) | | | | 1.3.1.1a Raymond Edward Huskey* (b 1891) & Lizzie Blake (dc1924) | | | | | 1.3.1.1a.1 Edward Huskey (bc1914) | | | | | 1.3.1.1a.2 Margarita Huskey (bc1918) | | | | | 1.3.1.1a.3 Charles Huskey (bc1921) | | | | | 1.3.1.1a.4 Eran Huskey (bc1924) | | | | 1.3.1.1b Raymond Edward Huskey* (b1891) & Pauline Clerc | | | | 1.3.1.2 Morris Huskey (b1892) | | | | 1.3.1.3 Eloisa Huskey (b1893) | | | | 1.3.1.4 METFORD Huskey (1896-1964) & Miss Roderick | | | | | 1.3.1.4.1 Joseph METFORD Huskey (1919-1991) KY | | | | 1.3.1.5 Ione Huskey (b1897) You said that Arthur Louis Huskey was not a brother to the others. That's fine. But how can the insertion of the METFORD name be accounted for in the Huskey family. It doesn't seem to show up in other families? I agree with you in the practice of not tracing after 1900. So many people!!!! It would indeed be a nightmare. Thus I am only looking back in time and there is a puzzle here. What do you think? 3. Michel, I really couldn't say about how the name Metford appears in the Huskey family. It doesn't always start out as a family name. A lot of people named their children after someone they admired, and then it ~became~ a family name that was passed down. (Andrew Jackson?) But who knows, it could be one of the mother's maiden names somewhere along the line. I have tons of Huskey's though....and these are the only occurrences that I have. I do have two other Metfords in my database. One is Metford John Decker, born 1902 who married Florence M. Butler. The other is his son Stanley Metford Decker. Metford John Decker's parents were Nicholas Henry Decker and Effie Elba Frazier. These are all Jefferson County, Missouri people.
