    3. I am researching the Wallace/Wallis, Speed, & Dicus families of Jefferson Co., MO. These seem to be my "brick walls." The Wallace family moved from Jefferson Co., IL to Jefferson Co., MO. His name was George Washington Wallace. His parents were William Green Wallace and Catherine Goddard. The Speed family was from KY and I do have information on that line. The Dicus family is from an Edward (William) Dicus who married Susan Speed. Can't find the family he belongs to.

    3. Thanks Dan, I will have to see if I can follow through on your suggestions. It is good to know there are possibilities to find more on this Graham family. We have been stuck for a very long time and it would be nice to have a break through now. 1. [MOJEFFER] Andrew MAY
    2. My dad had a sister, Emma Merceal who married Andrew May a year before her death in 1917. I know Andrew remarried and is buried in Woodlawn(?) Cemetery with his second wife. Did they have any children anyone knows of? Emma was just 21 at her death from tuberculosis. She was advised the strain and responsibilities of marriage would shorten her life, but said she would rather have one happy year married to the man she loved. We have one photo of Emma at about age 18. I would like to have one of Andrew for my records from the time period they would have been married, of possible. -----Original Message----- From: rckhound68111@yahoo.com To: MOJEFFER@rootsweb.com Sent: Sun, 31 Dec 2006 12:16 PM Subject: [MOJEFFER] Sparks, Chalmer and family Am trying to find out when Chalmer died as well as as his wife Hulda. 3. Dear List, My Jefferson County families are NAUMANN and ARNOLD, residents of Rock Township (Kimmswick). I am particularly interested in Florence Arnold, born February 1835 in Mullkerche, Elsass, France. I have lots of information gleaned from the Jefferson Democrat but have not been able to find his date of death. The last newspaper item, date June 21, 1906 states, "Florence Arnold, one of our oldest inhabitants, who has been living with his daughter in Indiana, came back for a visit to his old home this week." He fought in the Civil War (Union) and was commissioned November 7, 1864, vacated March 12, 1865 in Company A, Unit 1 Missouri. I have not been able to find him in the 1910 Census or in any Jefferson County Cemetery. Any suggestions? Judy

    3. Since the article says he was back for a visit, it is possible is didn't die in Jefferson CO. and he may have died before the 1910 census. I would look for his military records, especially to see if he got a pension and if so those records should have good info as to where he was living ----- Original Message ----- From: Judith Silbaugh<mailto:judith.silbaugh@worldnet.att.net> To: MOJEFFER-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:MOJEFFER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, December 30, 2006 8:51 PM Subject: [MOJEFFER] Roll Call Dear List, My Jefferson County families are NAUMANN and ARNOLD, residents of Rock Township (Kimmswick). 2. Paul, Nephew, DeGonia William Ernest Nephew married Mary Lucille DeGonia in 1877 Their children were: Cloves Agnes Ella (my grandmother) Tresia Anna Arton b 1886 d 1912 Frank John Clara James Thomas Bertha Anna married Fred Paul and they lived in Herky. They had one son Howard Paul who was born 1910. Anna committed suicide and is buried at Gamel Cemetery. Anna was at Fink Funeral Home, which I don't know if it's still around or not. In the Jefferson County Record, Hillsboro, Mo. February 22, 1912, it read: "Mrs. Fred Paul of Herculaneum committed suicide last week. Her remains were bro't to Festus and laid to rest in the Gamel Cemetery. It is said family troubles was the cause. Her mother committed suicide a few years ago". My grandmother and father had told me that a Mecey/Missey/Massey had raised the boy, Howard after his mother died. I believe Fred remarried shortly after Anna's death. I had gotten an email from someone before about the family that raised Howard, but had a computer crash several times and lost the information. Also in the Jefferson County Record, Hillsboro, Mo. April 13, 1911, part 7, it said: Seckman Jos. Yeager and family spent last Sunday at Fred Paul's, and helped celebrate the communion of Mrs. Paul's oldest daughter, who was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Glaize creek last Sunday". This was confusing as Anna died 1912 and this was 1911. As far as I know Anna and Paul only had 1 child, Howard. Perhaps this was Fred's parents?? Would appreciate any information on the family. Sharon in Arnold, Jefferson Co., Mo.
