My 3x great-grandmother is Effie Elisabeth Bennett, b. 1838 d. 1917. I believe Effie to be Peyton & Margaret (Bodine) Bennett's daughter. Effie married Elisha H. Sprouse in 1861 in Jefferson Co., IL - they had 8 children. Effie, her husband, and their children lived in both Missouri and in Southern Illinois. Effie died 19 Apr 1917 in Marion Co., Illinois & is buried in Hickory Hill Cemetery in that same county. I have always heard of Cherokee blood in our family but have been unable to prove it.
